Wow… what a weekend.

After almost 40 years, the Harlow Town Show made its return and as a Harlow based business, we were there along a full range of our locally produced drinks for everyone to sample and enjoy.

For us, the weekend wasn’t just about getting sales. It was about supporting the town we call home and raising awareness of who we are and what we do: locally sourced food and drink, corporate gifting, bespoke hampers and personalised branded ribbon.

Across the two days we chatted to so many people, and the overwhelming support for small, local makers was incredible. To everyone who spoke with us, bought from us or picked up a leaflet a HUGE thank you.

A massive shoutout to the organisers and the whole team behind the event - Emma, Akvile and the staff at Harlow Council who worked around the clock, the crews keeping the site spotless, and the emergency services keeping everyone safe. You all absolutely smashed it and we’re proud to have been part of such an epic weekend.

This weekend you can find us at the Harlow Town Show where we will be championing Essex with our Essex Spirits Co. locally produced spirits and beers from New River Brewery Datum Attitude Brewing Co and Radio City Beer Works We are so excited for this amazing, community focused event being held by Harlow Council in our home town.

We will be pitched up in the Market area with the full range of Essex Spirits Co alongside beer, all available for you to take home to enjoy in full sized bottles and cans.

Even better, the lovely ladies from Betty's Bubbles will be on-site – the only bar onsite serving everything local from Glitterbugs and Passionfruit Martinis to pints of delicious beer all produced just a few miles down the road.

Come along and say hi – try your favourites, buy a bottle and hear more about what we are doing to shout about how amazing Essex is!

Peak holiday season is in full swing, and this month we’ve already seen a surge in requests from our Travel Agent partners for welcome home gifts.

Many still send festive gifts at Christmas, but the trend is leaning towards tailored welcome home packages that arrive shortly after their clients return. One of our longest standing partners sends the thing we all miss most while travelling: proper tea and biscuits although naturally, ours are a little special. Locally blended tea in biodegradable bags paired with handmade shortbread. Simple, yet effective.

Others opt for personalised hampers filled with flavours that keep the memory of their holiday alive; sticky Asian sauces, chilli & pineapple jam, passion fruit curd or even spicy chorizo.

And, suited to both small and high volumes, our individually ribboned chocolate bars remain a favourite: cost effective, beautifully branded, and perhaps more importantly, very Instagram friendly.

Every gift we send includes branded ribbon and a personalised card, helping agents strengthen client relationships, boost visibility, and increase retention. One partner recently told us how much positive feedback she’s received and the impact has been “far greater than expected”.

Weekly Gifting Round Up

Someone asked us recently what we get up to each week, so we thought we would start sharing a few round ups over the coming months. It is a great way to show the variety of businesses we partner with and some of the gifts heading out our door – who know, it might give some others inspiration!

This week’s highlights include:

• Work anniversary hampers for the team at Rose Builders
• A new home gift sent on behalf of a mortgage advisor
• An end of job thank you for a scaffolding company
• A box of sweet treats for a financial advisor
• Staff appreciation gifts for an automotive accessory company
• Thank you gifts for a town planner
• On boarding chocolates for an accountancy practice
• End of job gifts for a landscaping company

And, perhaps more importantly, end of day cold beers for a team out there in this heat!

Alongside all of that, we have also been busy putting together proposals for local charities, a virtual assistant and two travel agents. Plus we have had several exciting planning meetings with our producers and clients as we look ahead to Christmas.

We work with businesses of every size and in every sector. Gifting is not just for the big companies, and we firmly believe that getting your logo onto something should not mean ordering huge quantities or spending a fortune.

Sustainability is so important to us here at Stort Valley.

We work closely with our producers to champion eco‑friendly packaging, and any boxes that arrive at the Hamper Hub are either saved for collection or shared via our socials so they can be reused.

Ribbon printing naturally creates offcuts, from reels running out mid-print to logo testing, even the occasional typo so we’re always looking for ways to ensure nothing goes to waste. Recently, we donated a large box of surplus ribbon to the lovely Tara at Roots to Wellbeing an incredible local charity supporting children and families.

Today we were thrilled to see those ribbons repurposed so creatively at one of their events at Moot House Harlow. The children (and adults!) made the most beautiful pieces, and it’s exactly the kind of sustainability we love to champion.

As it comes towards the festive season, Stort Valley Gifting is expanding our range of local artisan food producers and we’d love some recommendations!

We are proud to support more than 40 artisans in the area including companies such as Temprd Chocolate GrannySlice The Greek Farmer and Essex Spirits Co. just to name a few.

We’re looking for small, independent makers based in Hertfordshire or Essex whose products:

• Are ambient

• Aren’t stocked in mainstream supermarkets

• Are suitable for corporate gifting

• Taste, and look, amazing

• Have a minimum shelf life of 10 weeks – ideally longer

If you know a brilliant local food producer who offers wholesale and might want to chat about being in our hampers, please do tag them below or drop us a message.

Some of you may remember that a few months ago we were honoured to be chosen as one of the Theo Paphitis winners

We’re very excited to be heading to the SBS Regional Bootcamp in London tomorrow and looking forward to a day of learning, inspiration and connecting with other brilliant small businesses.

Emma will be out all day but never fear… Rob and Fig will be holding the fort here at the office. As always, the hampers will still be packed, ribbons will be printed, and Fig will no doubt be supervising with her usual enthusiasm.

Now all we need is the rain to clear up – how can this be May?!
