TWO ENGLISH WINEMAKERS @ BAR LEVAN - TUESDAY 16TH JUNE FOR WINE TASTING

On Tuesday 16th June we welcome not one, but TWO English winemakers to share their wines & stories with us - BEN ADAMS & MATT GREGORY

Originally hailing from Wi******er, Ben Adams cut his wine teeth at one of Languedoc-Roussillon’s finest estates, Les Clos Perdue in Corbières, spending 4 years as the vineyard manager growing beautiful grapes, before moving back to the UK and Wiltshire in 2018 to plant 2.5 hectares of his own vines. Ben makes two wines, his beautiful still red and a sparkling. We don’t want to spoil it, so you’ll have to come along to find out more!

Matt Gregory started his wine making journey in 2020 and without any previous experience ended up buying a vineyard in the Leicestershire Wolds. Blimey, talk about jumping right in the deep end! We think it turned out pretty well and we’ve been pouring his wines at Bar Levan since the beginning and can’t wait for him to share more with you on the 16th June.

Don’t forget, we will be doing our usual silly quiz with wine prizes for the knowledgeable and brave!

Despite rising costs everywhere, we still haven’t put up our prices! The pre-paid tickets are £40 per person and you get to explore 4 x wines based around the themes above, you also get snacks on arrival and a Croque Monsieur to share with your table.

You can book anytime, but be here before the tasting starts at 7pm.

Next up in the Bar Levan kitchen is our esteemed sous chef mr cooking up an absolute storm for the next month.

His menu is super seasonal, filled with dishes you want to eat. Comfort food sits next to delicate and light with a distinct waft of Spring.

Our Hannah has pulled out some absolute bangers from our cellar list to highlight for this weekend.

Emmanuel Brochet, Le Mont Benoit - as classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from Emmanuel’s small but perfectly formed estate in Villers-Aux-Nœuds, with beautifully rich texture and energy for days.

Elias Muster, Coprivus - Incredible Styrian Sauvignon Blanc from the son of Sepp & Maria Muster - fruit comes from one of the family’s oldest and steepest Sauvignon Blanc parcels, and spends extended time ageing in bottle before release - an unforgettable wine.

STRICTLY BANGERS WINE TASTING - WINES OF AUSTRIA 12TH MAY

Get your lederhosen’s on and crank up the Alpine horns. We’re gonna get our Schuhplattler on baby! Especially after a few drops of our favourite Austrian bangers. As regulars of Bar Levan will know, we love our Austrian winemakers. As well as having a bunch of interesting and indigenous grape vairieties - just think Gruner Veltliner and Blaufrankisch for starters - the quality to price ratio is always so damn good! So get booking your ticket to come taste some fantastic grape juice with us on Tuesday 12th May.
