🍇It's warm out but I want red wine...🍇

Why not try a dark rosé?
Along with chilled juicy reds, dark rosé is your friend in warm weather.

First things first: darker rosé ≠ sweet. It usually brings more fruit, more grip, and more depth than a pale rosé, while still feeling fresh from the fridge.

Basically: Dark rosé lives closer to light red than pale pink pool wine.

🥇 WINE OF THE WEEK 🍷

Meet this week’s overachiever:
Salvaje Syrah
From: Emiliana

Why has it earned the badge?
BBQ smoke, black olive, dark brambly fruit and plum jam, with to***co and spice.
Full-bodied but still very drinkable, with a perfumed raspberry lift on the nose.

Basically:
Move over Zin, this is the Marlboro man of wines. Big, rugged, and built for the grill.

Buy a bottle this week and we’ll add
+75 Wine Miles (aka a free glass of house wine, £5)

We respect this decision.
Wine Miles bonus limited to once per day. HR insisted.

🍇Asking for "DRY WHITE WINE” isn't as helpful as you think.🍇

In wine, "dry" means there is little to no residual sugar left.
So if you ask for a dry white, we know you don’t want sugar.
The catch is: most white wines on our shelves are alreaddy dry in wine terms.

As a clue, it only gets us so far.
A bit like playing Guess Who and asking if the person has a face.

So what should you ask for instead?

Crisp or soft?
Zippy or round?
Savoury or fruity?
Light or rich?
Oaked or unoaked?

That will get you much closer to the bottle you actually want.

Basically: dry tells us you don’t want sugar. Style & flavour tell us what you want to drink.

🦅🗽Summer Solstice Late Night🇺🇸
Friday, June 20
11am-late
Walk-ins Only

We’re staying open late for the longest day of the year, and since we always get a bit nostalgic for American BBQs this time of the year, we decided to bring a little US of A to Lee.

🌭There will be a battle of American hot dog styles.
You didn’t know there was more than one? That’s fine. Neither did most of Britain.

🍺There will be dressed beers. (Google it)
🥤There will be cocktails that feel straight out of a Red Solo cup. (Google it)
🍷There will be wine pairings that sound ridiculous until you try them. (Dig deep and get stuck in!)

Basically, expect hot dogs, cold drinks, Steph in a Stetson, possibly a bald eagle, and enough mustard and pickle energy to make the whole thing feel deeply unnecessary in the best possible way.

Strictly no ketchup you heathens.🌭

Full menu coming soon.

🥇 WINE OF THE WEEK 🍷

Meet this week’s overachiever:
Les Bornes Blanc
From: Domaine Pellé

Why has it earned the badge?
Pear, green fruit, lemon verbena, and a touch of honey.
Bone dry, razor-sharp, and as steely as Meryl in The Devil Wears Prada.

Basically:
Not blue Sauvignon. Cerulean. The Sancerre alternative, without the price tag.

Buy a bottle this week and we’ll add
+75 Wine Miles (aka a free glass of house wine, £5)

That’s all.
Wine Miles bonus limited to once per day. HR insisted.

🍇What does acidity actually mean in wine?🍇

Acidity is one of the main building blocks of wine.

It's what gives wine its tartness, crispness, and refreshing drinkability.

Without enough acidity, wine can feel flat or a bit boring. Too much can feel too sharp.
Some people love high-acid wines, some people hate it.
Learn where you stand.

Basically: does this wine make my mouth water? That's acidity doing its thing.

🥇 WINE OF THE WEEK 🍷

Meet this week’s overachiever:
Nauda Viura
From: Alonso y Pedrajo

Why has it earned the badge?
Herbs, toast, dried apricot, then ginger, black pepper and a hit of olive.
Layered, aromatic, and quietly structured with softer tannins than you’d expect.

Basically:
The Amphora Orange. Not one for the faint-hearted.

Buy a bottle this week and we’ll add
+75 Wine Miles (aka a free glass of house wine, £5)

Correct behaviour.
Wine Miles bonus limited to once per day. HR insisted.

[Shelf Talk]

🍇Why do we organise by Flavour not region?🍇

Because that’s how people actually ask for wine.

After years behind the bar, we’ve learned most people are flavour-led.
They ask for juicy, mineral, easy drinking, crisp.

So we arrange the shelves by style, not geography.
It makes it easier to find the bottle you’re actually craving.

Basically: start with flavour. Region can come later.

🥇 WINE OF THE WEEK 🍷

Meet this week’s overachiever:
Ann Faure Pinot Noir
From: Craven Wines

Why has it earned the badge?
Red berries, plum and cherry, with proper minerality and a touch of earth.
It made me love Pinot Noir again.

Basically:
The Summer Dinner Party Red. Chill it slightly and watch people ask who brought it.

Buy a bottle this week and we’ll add
+75 Wine Miles (aka a free glass of house wine, £5)

We’d do the same.
Wine Miles bonus limited to once per day. HR insisted.
