It’s a bit early to be calling out a wine of the year but I’m sure this wine will up there come December!
Phelan Farm is a project a few miles from the Pacific on Steiner Creek in California.
Head winemaker is the legendary who produces elegant, fragrant and complex wines, almost the antithesis of the wines California has been known for. The vineyard management shows similar attention to detail as they create a healthy ecosystem for the vines using treatments that include a selection of native plants from milk thistle, horsetail, willow bark, nettles and Thyme. Some treatments also include locally foraged produce such as kelp, seaweed and Pacific Ocean water.
Autrement is a blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay and Mondeuse. It is mineral, ripe and fragrant with wild strawberry, rhubarb, forest floor and smoky cherry.
If you’re a fan of red wines from Jura and Savoie this one if for you!!
