Please support all our fabulous independent shops πβ€οΈ
It's been really sad to see so many independent businesses close their doors this year.
As an independent shop owner ourselves, we know just how much hard work, sacrifice and love goes into building something of your own. Every closure is more than just another empty shop. It's someone's dream coming to an end.
What strikes me is how quickly people say "Oh, that's such a shame" when a business closes. But how many made the effort to support it while it was still there?
And then come the inevitable comments...
"Another charity shop, no doubt."
"Probably another v**e shop, barber's or nail bar."
But we can't complain about losing the character and variety of our high streets if we're not supporting the businesses that give them that character in the first place.
Independent businesses can't compete with the buying power and budgets of the big chains, and every customer makes a difference.
Support doesn't always mean spending money. A recommendation, a shared post or a lovely review costs nothing but can mean so much.
We all want thriving town centres full of wonderful independent businesses, but they need more than kind words when they're gone.
There's a reason people say "Use it or lose it."
Please don't wait until another shop closes to appreciate it. Support our independents while they're still here.
