London trade tasting!

Our first Wayward Imports tasting back after the summer break will fall on Monday 28th September as we ease into the Autumn.

After working together for the last 8 years it’s hard to believe that this will be her first visit, but we’re so happy that our guest for the day will be none other than Noëlla Morantin, joining us from Touraine, Loire.

Maker of the sublime and much-loved LBL cuvée, an old-vine, barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc that pushes perceptions of this particular grape, plus many other wonderful expressions of the region besides. Noëlla will be pouring both new arrivals and wines from the cellar in person.

We’ll also be pouring the wines of Humus, our first Portuguese grower, on the day too.

We’ll be joining forces once again with our old friends Beattie & Roberts & Wright's Wines

Not one to miss, they too will have winemakers in tow: Partida Creus alumni Emilie Mutombu with the former, then volcanic Languedoc from Joe Jefferies and Welsh cider from Skyborry with the latter.

Cadet 10am-4pm by appointment. Please get in touch to book your spot and we hope to see you then.

Introducing the Atlantic wines of Humus…

Wayward Imports has taken its first steps into Portugal and we’re excited to share the work of Rodrigo Filipe, based in Alvorninha, Lisbon.

It’s a beautiful, remote spot that sits halfway between the Atlantic and the sprawling limestone mass of the Serra dos Candeeiros mountain range. This coastal influence creates a unique microclimate, allowing for longer, slower ripening that preserves the natural acidity of the grapes. Soils are a mixture of red clay and calcareous limestone. The resulting wines have a zip and freshness that speaks of the sea, combined with a deep concentration and structural presence.

Although started back as far as the late 90s, since 2006 Rodrigo has farmed the land organically, growing local varietals Fernão Pires, Arinto and Vital for the whites, and Castelão, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca for the reds. There is a little of the more international Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah too, which is used to blend.

In the cellar it’s a hands-off affair, Rodrigo believing the hard work in the vineyard is what defines the outcome of the finished wine, allowing simple vinification techniques to yield results beyond the sum of their parts. Wines more often than not ferment and age in old oak barrels and foudre, with some very special examples of amphora wines that are left untouched on the skins for as long as an entire year.

Following a period of careful experimentation, use of sulphur was reduced each vintage up to 2010 when it was done away with completely. This slowly-slowly approach has been to the benefit of the wines, at once open and expressive in the way we hope, but with an on-point composition that makes them uncannily long-lived once the cork is pulled.

Find the wines at waywardwines.co.uk now to read more and to order.

All four bottles can be found up at our Leeds shop and are open and pouring by glass this weekend.

A flying visit to Ignasi Segui…

We called by Ignasi’s place earlier this week to taste some of the new wines that will land in our cellar once the summer heat starts to cool.

We were fortunate to catch him as, like most in Penedès and the surrounding regions, harvest has come sooner than expected this year after a scorching ripening season. For Ignasi, this will be his earliest on record.

New vintages of his house specials Pim Pam white and red, traditional method bubbles as well as his single vineyard Macabeu, Garnatxa Blanca and Xarel-lo will be on their way in due course.

In the meantime there is a little of his delicious, sun-kissed wine left in our cellar to see us to the end of this long, hot summer.

Pick up a bottle from our Leeds shop, or order via waywardwines.co.uk, where we are still offering 10% off all wine with the code SUMMER1026.

Touraine double-drop…

New and restocked wine just in from Noëlla Morantin & Thomas Puéchavy.

Noëlla brings us a trio of fresh releases - a new iteration of her pet nat Marie Rose, blending a press of 2024 Romorantin, Chardonnay and Côt. A beautiful coral pink sparkling wine of texture, with beautiful fine bubbles was the result. A robust, clairet-style rose of Côt and Gamay, Osiana 2025, and some cellared bottles of her glossy Cabernet Franc/Côt blend, Tango Atlantico 2023 also join the ranks, alongside her rich, glorious whites.

Thomas gives us what we both want and need - we have coaxed just a handful more cases of his superlative sparkling Chenin, Les Turbulents 2023, from the cellar, with a dozen or so magnums to go around too. The masterful Rayon Blanc 2023 and pink fizz curio La Brosse 2023 also seen a small a re-up.

Read more on the website where the wines are all listed to order now.

Wholesale to the trade via Wayward Imports - get in touch if you would like to arrange a tasting.

And an ongoing reminder that you can take 10% off these and indeed all wines in our online sale with the code SUMMER1026 until August 15th.

New Mazel - big format white and reds to chill down…

We may have entered the sleepiest month of our Wayward Imports schedule, but that’s not to say we don’t have some new wine to tell you about.

The latest additions are from the much-loved Domaine du Mazel, with a trio of new wines bolstering our already fairly comprehensive line-up.

Prolific and influential in the region for well over 20 years, Gerald and Jocelyne Oustric have quietly been making some of the most expressive sans soufre wines in the Ardèche without fanfare since the late 90s. Identifying as paysan - farmers and workers of the land foremost - their aim is to produce pure, nourishing wine that is at home on any kind of dinner table, be it feast or frugality.

One of their most sensationally popular wines in recent times has been from a younger vinyard - their lip-smacking 100% Cinsault, Cuvée Paulou. Now in its 3rd vintage, we’re happy to welcome the youthfully exhuberant 2025 to the list, bottled earlier this year.

White wine from Mazel is thin on the ground right now, so as we patiently wait for the 2025s to complete their fermentations we’re greatful for a handful of magnums of 2024 Cuvée Les Leches, the only format this wine is left in. The perfect size for summer lunches with a big group.

Cuvée Raoul 2024 has really hit its stride now, this herby, luminous ruby Carignan works perfectly thrown onto the ice.

Up to order on the website now and available at wholesale to our trade customers.

Our online summer sale rolls on - take 10% off these and any other wines that take your fancy with the code SUMMER1026. New wines are being added regularly, so keep checking in on latest arrivals.

Signs of another big session…

Big thanks to everyone who made it down to our last warehouse party of 2026. This year has been amazing and it’s been such a pleasure to see these special wines enjoyed by you all en masse.

Huge shout to our neighbours FOLD who have put so much effort into the food offering and provided the ideal barbecued and baked nourishment each month. Respect!

We’ll be back again for the 2027 season before you know it.

Shout out our guest winemakers, importers and brewers Ignasi Segui, Fabio Ferracane, Tutto Wines, Gergovie Wines and FUTTLE

Big love to the DJs who showed up with the finest selections to soundtrack the day: , Andy Allen, , Barry Smyth, Brian Jackson, Mchael Upsn, Futtle Records, and

And last but not least we’re taking our hats completely off and bowing down to Chris Sharkey and the truly brilliant, spontaneous house band ensemble he’s pulled out of thin air each month. Big up the players Louis, Tobe, , and James Mainwaring - we’re so fortunate to have you jazz one off for us.

Grazie mille one and all xx

Our 4th & final warehouse session of 2026!

Two weeks today - Saturday 25th July - we’ll be hosting our arch party finale down at our Brussels Street warehouse. Alongside our good friends and neighbours FOLD, we’ll be wheeling in the soundsystem, throwing copious amounts of wine onto ice and stoking the barbecue flames once again. The question remains, will we strike the quadruple and get another day of glorious sunshine??

This month we’ll be selecting a greatest hits list of our very own Wayward Imports for the day, with a kaleidoscope of colours and styles all perfectly suited to peak summer drinking. Hazy bubbles, aromatic whites, translucent pink and reds with a brisk chill. It also seems the perfect time to pull the cork on some outsized bottles, so expect pours from some special magnums and jeroboams too. Rare n’ desirable bottles from the cellar blackboard as per.

Our guests for the day are bringing both cold beers and music, as we welcome down our old friends Lucy and Stephen of FUTTLE and from the East Neuk of Fife; specialists in farmhouse, foraged and wild beers that follow the seasons, not to mention deep racks of choice, eclectic vinyl. Stephen will be taking the afternoon DJ slot to treat us to one of his notoriously wide-ranging sets. Last year we had gospel into post-punk into dub into hard bop… we can’t wait to hear what he brings down this time.

With another mouthwatering menu from both bakery and BBQ to be announced a bit closer to the date, one thing is for sure - FOLD will NEVER let you go hungry.

Chris Sharkey leads our long-running house band SHARKEY GROOOOOP into their EIGHTH session for us. We’re so grateful for the wonderful music they’ve made: on the spot, fully improvised, in-the-pocket jams every time.

We’re also welcome back regulars and (familiar faces of Leeds bands Cowtown, XAM Duo & Holodrum) who’ll be closing things out in the evening DJ slot, no doubt with some pitched-down disco and Balearic chuggers.

61 & 62 Brussels Street, 1-9pm. No entry free, no reservations, all welcome!

On Saturday 25th July - we’ll be hosting our arch party finale down at our Brussels Street warehouse.
