Situated on the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, the region of Marlborough is best known for growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

Vines can be traced back to c1867 but for most of the 20th century, the South Island mainly grew cereals and sheep. It wasn’t until 1973 when the well known producer Montana started to establish its vineyards.

Facts about rosé wine.

1. Rosé was the first type of wine, and was first produced in 7000BC.

2. It's made pink using the skin of red grapes.

3. Rosé is not for keeping, and should be consumed within three years of purchase at the longest.

4. Rosé is typically cheaper than red wine because it does not have to mature as long and is simpler to make.

5. Rosé was first produced by the Greeks, who founded a colony in Marseille and introduced rosé wine to Provence.

Our top five facts about grapes.

1. Grapes are extremely nutritious. They're proven to hydrate the body, keep your heart healthy, and reduce the risk of diabetes.

2. As well as being eaten and used for wine, grapes are also used in medicine.

3. For nutritional benefit, grapes are best consumed when fat, juicy, plump, and wrinkle free.

4. The first instances of grapes being used to produce wine appear in documentation 8,000 years ago.

5. Table grapes and wine grapes are different. The grapes we use to make wine are smaller, and have thicker skin and lots of seeds!
