Founded in 2009 as a wholesale business in Hay on Wye, we supplied quality wines to Pubs & Restaurants, our first shop opened in November 2009, we operate Retail, Wholesale, Events and Online busine

Hi folks - Well what a fabulous time that was! Did you enjoy yourselves? Some really good questions too throughout the evening from all of you. Many thanks to Andrea Asciamprener for presenting a fascinating journey into the world of natural, minimum intervention, organic wines. Wonderfully diverse selection with the Karri Vineyards Terroirs Project Semillon from Australia and Epicuria Cabernet Sauvignon from Morocco getting top votes of the evening. RAISING A GLASS TO YOU ALL TO SAY A HUGE THANK YOU!
Hello everyone - we just wanted to show our appreciation for the support you give us. It allows us to continue searching for new superb wines from around the world created by families like us and some of these will be ‘unveiled’ at our annual summer tasting on Friday 26th June in the shop. We have new discoveries from both Michele and Jeremy from their recent tasting trips abroad. Hope to see you there and thanks again!

The Weekend and the Sun’s Still Shining - We Could Get Used To This!
Well hello there lovely people! It’s Saturday and you know what that means - tasting day! So we’re heading to France with our tastebuds with two gorgeous wines.
First up for whites we have a lovely dry aromatic muscadet from the Loire valley. Having the advantage of resting on the lees for greater structure and complexity on the palate - great minerality!

For reds a recent Jeremy find from his French tasting trip. A sumptuous Costières de Nîmes. He knows his stuff - it’s just been recommended in the top 100 in Wine Merchant magazine! Predominately Syrah Grenache blend from Southern Rhône this is bursting with black hedgerow fruits on the nose and palate with a hint of liquorice and of course spice toward the finish. Fantastic for beef!

HEATWAAAVE!! AND A BANK HOLIDAY…WHAHEY!!
Happy Saturday folks 😊we have some lovely wines to compliment the sunshine on taste in the shop today and check out our new wine model!
Jeremy is sporting two fruity little numbers. First up an outstanding Greek rosé - Little Ark is 100% Moschofilero from the Peloponnese peninsula. Strawberry and cherry on the nose with floral notes yielding to a richer experience on the palate with honey and minerality extending the finish. Great with Calamari and just beautiful in its own with this weather.
For reds again Aegean but across the water in Turkey we have a Çal Karasi grape - lighter style red perfect for warmer weather. Bright garnet in colour there’s raspberry and red forest fruits on the nose and palate, subtle tannins and spice on the finish. Light mouthfeel which belies its 14.3% abv - great with lamb and game birds.

ITALIA!! SATURDAY WINES ON TASTE IN THE SHOP.
Ohwaayohwaayohwaayohoooh! Yes it’s FA Cup day so what’s missing? Wine of course😉
So we’ve got your back by heading to Italy with our tastebuds. For whites we have the ever popular Pastor et Lupus Pinot Grigio from Tuscan producers Menicucci.
Floral, citrus and pear notes on the nose and palate yielding to minerality on the finish with a hint of almond. Refreshing acidity makes this a super easy drinking wine and a good match for white fish.

For reds we head south to Sicily for an organic Vitese Nero D’Avola. Red and black berries on the nose and palate with the merest hint of violet. Light, mouth feel yet full bodied at 14% abv, subtle tannins and enough acidity to pair with lamb or duck. Fruitiness stays all the way through to the finish.

DOUGLAS LAING WHISKY TASTING THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE!!
Well, that was pretty amazing wasn’t it?! Did you enjoy yourselves? Huge thank you to Fiona Sutherland for presenting such a wonderful, funny and educational journey through six Douglas Laing Whiskies (tasting notes posted here soon!) Hands down winner was a surprise vote - Ledaig 12 YO 48.4% - that’s the ABV not the vote percentage😁 We have already been asked when the next one is. Watch this space folks - we’re working on an idea…
