With the opening ceremony only hours away we want to wish everyone involved in Orkney Island Games 2025 the best of luck

Preparations are in full swing for this afternoon’s opening ceremony at the Bignold Park. Unusually, there’s even been a hot weather warning for the warm sunny conditions expected!

What you need to know:

😀 It is free and unticketed - there’s room for 3000 spectators who will join 2,500 Games participants.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Public entry opens at 3.15pm from the TOP gate on the Meadows - closest to Bignold Park Road. Other entrances are reserved for Games teams and performers.

🚻 There will be toilets on site but no food or drink available so bring your own - no alcohol allowed.

☀️ Be prepared for the sun - there’s not much shade in the park. Hat, sun cream etc.

🎤 Entertainment starts at 3.30PM

👸Official opening ceremony is at 5PM

🥳 Parade from the Bignold down to the Cathedral gets underway at 5.30PM with entertainment along the route

🚌 No parking on site and local road closures in place - Park & Ride is available from Orkney Auction Mart
