We were delighted to be involved in The Great Yorkshire Menu, recently filmed at York Racecourse, celebrating some of the brilliant food, drink and people that make Yorkshire so special.

Our Sales Director David Archibald joined the judging panel alongside Stephen Bull, as four familiar faces from the racing world battled it out to create a three-course Yorkshire menu.

From Whitby crab to Yorkshire lamb and strawberries, it was a fantastic celebration of the county we’re proud to call home.

On Friday, we brought the team together to celebrate our 120th anniversary - and to raise a glass to the people who have helped make the last 120 years what they are.

We also celebrated our Number 10 Club, which recognises colleagues who have been part of the Townend family for more than a decade.

This year we celebrated some fantastic milestones, with Rachel and Hannah reaching 10 years, Laura celebrating 20 years, Chris 25 years and Darryl an incredible 46 years (!) with House of Townend.

That’s 111 years of service between five people - a brilliant reminder that, while wine is at the heart of what we do, it’s the people who make House of Townend what it is.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Chef Siobhan for keeping us very well fed throughout the celebrations!

Here’s to the people, the memories and the next chapter.

120 years, and counting! 🥂

We are delighted to have been featured in Will Lyons’ 'The UK’s 8 best independent wine shops - and the bottles to buy' in The Sunday Times this weekend.

“A short walk from the banks of the Humber, House of Townend is packed with wines you won’t find on the supermarket shelves. The 120-year-old merchant, run by fourth-generation John, backs producers who bottle at source rather than shipping in bulk. It’s an old-school commitment to quality.”

We are very proud to be included alongside some brilliant independent wine merchants from across the UK!🍷

We were delighted to see that Dancing Flame Sauvignon Blanc Gran Reserva has just been featured in the September issue of Decanter, as part of its South American Value Whites Panel Tasting.

Picking up an impressive 93 points, the judges described it as “refreshing and quietly sophisticated.”

With its bright, fresh character and coastal Chilean origins, it’s a wine that’s clearly making an impression - and at just £13.99, we think it’s definitely one to try!

Harvest has begun in Champagne 🍇

Champagne Gardet started picking on 16 August... the earliest start they’ve ever experienced!

Christophe Prieux reports incredible quality and very high sugar levels from the grapes so far.

The downside? Yields are expected to be around 30% lower than usual.

We can’t wait to see how the harvest unfolds. 🥂

David was joined by Richard Holmes, Neil Phillips and Jemma Ladwick for the wine and cheese tasting, followed by a wine tasting with Neil Phillips, Nick Luck and Lydia Hislop.

Thank you for having us York Races & Legends Global!🍷🧀🏇

From 2001 to 2026… 🍇

25 years of Le Charme Sauvignon Blanc means 25 vintages, a few different looks and plenty of bottles enjoyed along the way.

Here’s a look back at how the Le Charme label has evolved over the years - from our very first vintage to the special 25th Anniversary Edition.

The label may have changed, but Le Charme remains unmistakably Le Charme! 🥂

10/08/2026

The 2025 vintage of Le Charme Sauvignon Blanc marks the 25th vintage John has blended alongside renowned Plaimont winemaker Christine Cabri - a partnership that has helped make Le Charme one of our most successful and enduring wines.

Every December, John heads to Gascony to taste through the new vintage with Christine and her team. Together, they taste individual parcels from vineyards across Saint Mont, Aignan, Plaisance and Condom, building the blend parcel by parcel until the balance is just right.

The aim? To keep Le Charme unmistakably Le Charme, while allowing each year to show its own character. The 2025 vintage brings plenty of freshness and precision, with bright citrus and tropical fruit, crisp acidity and a lovely textural balance.

25 vintages on, the philosophy remains the same... source the best parcels, blend for drinkability and overdeliver on quality.

And to celebrate, Le Charme Sauvignon Blanc is £9.49 a bottle, or £54 for 6, as our August Wine of the Month.

Cheers to a quarter century of Le Charme Sauvignon Blanc and a wine that makes you smile!🍇🥂
