We’ve just been given a crate of cooking apples that were blown down in Monday’s gale. Please come and help yourself (but not to the crate - that belongs to someone).

While I’m here, thanks to everyone who took advantage of our frozen food giveaway this week. We’ve got about half of our backup freezer emptied, so we’ll do another giveaway in a month or two, hopefully to clear it out completely.

It’s been a while since we did a frozen food giveaway, so we’re going to do it this week, tonight and tomorrow night, 7 to 8 pm.

If you haven’t seen this before, this is chilled items that have expired and then been frozen. From a food safety perspective, this is fine. Just make sure you keep each item frozen until you’re ready to cook it, then cook it thoroughly - just as you should always do with frozen food.

It’s mostly sausages and bacon, with some pies, ready meals and a few other things. Please share this post - it would be great to clear out our backup freezer. And bring a bag.
