We are delighted to welcome Paul Back for another wonderful chat with one of Independently Bottled wh**ky's best known companies - Hannah Wh**ky Merchants.

You'll likely know them better under the Lady of the Glen moniker, which they use for their range of single cask wh**ky releases, but with other brands such as Dalgety Bay and St Bridget's Kirk Blend, there is more to the company than meets the eye.

Paul is the Brand Ambassador and one of a small team of just four people who run the company. Paul is heavily involved in the warehouse, sampling and choosing casks for release, as well as hosting events across Europe to promote the great wh**ky on offer.

Join us for a fun and relaxed look at the wh**ky world where we discuss the hot topics, Pauls own journey in wh**ky and exactly what flavour of edible underwear he'll have on for us.

Things are getting interesting on the shelves at Inverurie Wh**ky Shop!

We've just welcomed THREE new Royal Brackla 11 Year Old releases from Uisge Mòr, and this is a cracking little experiment in the magic of wh**ky maturation.

One mother cask. Two octave finishes. Three completely different flavour experiences. 👀

🍒 THE ORIGINAL – Refill Sherry Butt

Think cherry cola bottles, strawberry laces, juicy red berries and warming spice. A proper nostalgic trip to the sweetie shop!

🍓 THE CREAMY ONE – White Port Octave

Raspberry roulade, white chocolate, pink marshmallows and raspberry ice cream. Basically pudding in a Glencairn. 🤤

🍫 THE INDULGENT ONE – Uitvlugt Rum Octave

Caramel latte, chocolate-coated nuts, sticky malt loaf and a cheeky kick of spice. Big, bold and beautifully rich!

The really clever bit? They all started with the same Royal Brackla wh**ky. It's the casks doing the talking!

Inaugural Release!

A fantastic new wh**ky has arrived - and it's local to Aberdeenshire!

The Burnobennie distillery in Banchory was set up in 2020, and has been gaining huge plaudits from industry experts for its quality of new make spirit.

Using three different malts to create a characterful spirit, Burnobennies inaugural limited release has been matured from a vatting of seven first fill American Oak ex-bourbon casks and bottled at Natural Cask Strength (56.7%)

The malts used were pale, chocolate and cara, each bringing something to the table in the form of character, flavour and body, producing a new make that is almost drinkable before even entering the cask.

Mikes notes:

Nose: vanilla latte, milk chocolate covered hazelnuts and honey covered weetabix.

Palate: Creamy and spiced texture. Malted biscuit base and chocolate edges, a little orange peel and mixed nuts. Mocha bitterness comes in.

Finish: Long and lasting, dark chocolate and cereal, with a backbone of caramel.

We still have a handful of Bivrost Heimdallr in stock - a wonderful wh**ky from Norways Arctic Circle Distillery - and are knocking off more than 10% this weekend for you to enjoy.

Bivrost Heimdallr is between four and six years old. The majority of the wh**ky was initially matured in ex-rye casks and then finished for one year in seasoned Amontillado sherry casks. A portion was matured in bourbon casks, with a small component aged in Amburana (Brazilian “teak”).

Bivrost Heimdallr marks the inaugural release in the Aesirs Series, a celebration of myth, artistry, and exceptional wh**ky-making. Each release in the Aesirs Series is accompanied by original artwork. A collaboration with Polish artist Hubert Wilczewski. His illustration captures Heimdallr sounding the Gjallarhorn to announce the beginning of Ragnarok.

Bivrost Heimdallr delivers layered aromas of spiced oak, dried fruits, and subtle rye warmth, enriched by delicate notes from Amontillado sherry and Amburana.

The palate is smooth and complex, revealing hints of baking spices, dried cherries, soft caramel, and subtle tropical undertones.

A finish of warm oak, light tannins, and a touch of sweetness lingers, providing a wh**ky that is both inviting and intricately layered, reflecting the care, cask selection, and artistry behind its creation.

A special collector’s surprise accompanies select bottles: nine randomly chosen boxes include a signed and numbered print of the artwork, making each a unique piece of wh**ky and art history.

This is the 22nd edition of a book that wh**ky enthusiasts look forward to every autumn.

The Malt Wh**ky Yearbook is the brainchild of editor Ingvar Ronde and was first published in autumn 2005.
Since then a new and completely revised edition has been published yearly. What started out as a go-to book
for wh**ky enthusiasts wanting to keep abreast of the ever-changing malt wh**ky world, soon became a tool
also for the wh**ky industry. Many producers now buy it for their staff (brand ambassadors, tour guides,
sales people etc.) to keep them informed about the latest developments.

Today, you can buy it as part of your wh**ky development, ensuring that you have information of over 1000 wh**ky distilleries at hand in an easy to use and reference guide.

We've received a lovely top up this week of the brilliant Petit Chien Brun Calvados from Little Brown Dog!

Bottled from a cask that formerly held Arran Wh**ky, this limited single Cask (296 bottles) release shows Calvados off in a new way.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Tinned mandarins, apple strudel, a new box of glazed donuts

Palate: Apple tarte tatin, candy floss, angelica

Finish: Feint pastis, cumin, white pepper

🍷 𝐅𝐔𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓 👉 Some of the world’s most famous white w**es are made using dark-skinned grapes. In Ch*****ne, for example, both Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier have dark skins.

The secret is in the pressing — by separating the juice from the skins quickly and gently, w**emakers can keep the w**e pale and fresh. So despite the colour of the grape, what ends up in your glass can still be beautifully white.
