5 PLANTS YOU SHOULD BE PLANTING IN OCTOBER 🌿🍂

October is a brilliant time to get new plants established in your garden. The soil is still relatively warm, but with more moisture around than during summer, conditions are ideal for planting many hardy perennials.

Here are 5 plants to look out for this October:

🌿 1. Heuchera
Fantastic for adding foliage colour to borders and containers, with varieties ranging from lime green and silver through to deep reds and purples. They’re particularly useful for adding colour to partially shaded areas.

🌿 2. Skimmia
A great choice for evergreen structure and winter interest. Glossy foliage keeps the garden looking good as we head into the colder months.

🌸 3. Hardy Cyclamen
Perfect for bringing colour to shadier areas when many other plants are starting to disappear. Hardy cyclamen mostly flower through autumn and winter and are particularly suited to partial shade.

🌸 4. Hellebores
Plant them in autumn and you’ll be rewarded with beautiful flowers later in winter and into spring. Most are hardy and particularly happy in partial or dappled shade.

🌾 5. Stipa & ornamental grasses
Perfect for adding movement, texture and structure to your garden. They look especially good catching the low autumn light and work beautifully alongside colourful foliage plants.

Which one would you choose for your garden? 👇

Come and visit Planters and see what you could add to your garden this autumn.
