What a load of tosh! π If you want sustainable keep it simple. Buy fresh, buy local and most importantly buy REAL free range eggs π©·π₯π©·
The requirements for supermarket eggs (regardless of colour) to be classed as free range may surprise you. 4m2 per hen of outside space is all it takes for them to fool you into thinking your eggs are free range. The reality? That outside space can be for a short period of time within the day and it can be restricted and shared with thousands of other birds.
The best way to make sure your eggs are as sustainable as can be is to ditch the supermarket and buy local.
Our girls aren't restricted with their outdoor space. They can go anywhere, lay where they want and go to bed when they want (within reason because Ellie's Dad is currently having very late nights locking the girls away every night) π€£
But the point is.... You can't beat farm fresh. Supermarket eggs take ages to get onto the shelves by which point you've missed the boat of having the opportunity to buy fresh.
On our labels we let you know when your eggs were collected and when they're best to be eaten by. We keep it simple and all we ask is that our wonderful locals do the same π₯°π©·π₯
