Sussex Day – Celebrating the best of local

Sussex Day is all about recognising the people, produce and places that make this county so special. Here at Hastings Wine & Coffee, we’re proud to support local vineyards and stock a handpicked range of Sussex wines that reflect the diversity and quality of our region.

Here’s what’s currently available in store:

Beacon Down Bacchus -
An aromatic white, crisp and refreshing with notes of elderflower, citrus and green apple. A great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc, ideal for lighter dishes and summer evenings.

Beacon Down Pinot Gris -
Dry in style with delicate aromas and flavours of stone fruit and ripe pear. A refined wine with a clean finish and gentle tropical lift.

Beacon Down Blanc de Noirs 2022 -
Made using the traditional method with 100% Pinot Noir. Expect fine bubbles, subtle red fruit, citrus zest and a soft brioche undertone. Perfect for celebrations or as an elegant aperitif.

Tidebrook Staddle Stone Chardonnay 2023 -
A characterful English Chardonnay with a balance of bright orchard fruit, creamy oak and fresh acidity. Part-aged in French oak, this wine has real depth while staying vibrant and precise.

Tidebrook The Tipping Point Pinot Noir 2022 -
Light-bodied and expressive with notes of cherry, pomegranate and a hint of spice. Gentle tannins and a mineral finish make this a versatile food wine with plenty of charm.

Pop in to explore the full Sussex range and raise a glass to local this weekend.

Our ‘Slow’ Book Club began with a gentle, thoughtful start this week.

A small group of strangers gathered for the first time—and within minutes, we were chatting like old friends about books, wine, coffee, and life in general. ☕📖🍷 The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and we all appreciated the slower pace—six weeks between meetings gives us time to really enjoy each book (and maybe squeeze in a few more along the way!).

We’ve set up a WhatsApp group to share recommendations and keep in touch between meetups. If you'd like to join, just pop into the shop or drop us a message—we’d love to have you.

📅 Next meeting: Wednesday 23rd July at 7pm
No booking needed—just turn up and be part of it.
We'll be opening a special bottle of wine inspired by All the Colours of the Dark, available by the glass. 🍷✨

Wednesday 11th June, 7pm | SLOW Book Club with Gemma | Free to join | 12 Spots

📚 Join us for the inaugural Hastings Wine and Coffee Book Club! This is a SLOW book club, meeting every six weeks to give you time to savour the story. 🐢

We’re starting with a relaxed social hosted by Gemma, who’s recently been reading All the Colours of the Dark. 🌒 You don’t need to read it yourself—just bring your ideas for what the group should read first. 💡

If you're stuck, Whitaker’s gripping thriller of grief, guilt and small-town secrets is a great place to start. 🔍 Come for the books, stay for the wine, and help shape this new community from the beginning. ✨

Better weather is on its way! ☀️ Celebrate from Sunday by grabbing a bottle of our Rosa Bianca Pinot Grigio and heading to Hastings beach! 🏖️

This Rosato is a moreish blend of 80% Garganega and 20% Pinot Grigio, boasting a beautiful neon salmon-pink hue. 🌸 On the nose, you'll find fresh aromas of citrus fruits 🍋 and summer red berries 🍓. The palate is dry and refreshing with excellent acidity, leading to a crisp finish. Plus, it's low in sulphur! 🍷

Perfect for enjoying the sea breeze and sunshine. 🌊

Happy National Fish and Chip Day! 🐟🍟

What's better than perfectly crispy fish and chips? Pairing it with the perfect wine! At , we've got you covered 🙌🏻

Sparkling Wines: Fizz and fish & chips are a match made in heaven! Try Champagne, English Sparkling Wine, Prosecco, or Cava. The bubbles cut through the richness and cleanse the palate.

Crisp Whites: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay (unoaked or lightly oaked), Pinot Grigio, Picpoul de Pinet, and dry Riesling are all fantastic choices. Their acidity complements the dish beautifully.

Dry Rosé: We recommend our Côtes du Rhône Mathilda or our Pinot Grigio Rosé Bianca for a refreshing and fruity contrast.

Come on down and celebrate with us! What's your favourite pairing?
