🍷 CHILLABLE REDS VS. ROOM TEMP REDS ❄️

Not all red wines are best at room temperature — some are absolutely delicious when served slightly chilled!

We’ve put together a simple guide to help you know which is which 👇
And even better — we’ve now got a dedicated Chillable Reds shelf in store!

Whether you’re planning a BBQ, beach picnic or just want something refreshing for a summer evening, we’ve got you covered with wines like:

✅ Gamay
✅ Cabernet Franc
✅ Pinot Noir (borderline — chill if it’s light!)

Prefer something a bit bolder? Our room temp reds like Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon are still going strong too.

📍 Drop by Hastings Wine & Coffee and ask us what’s tasting great right now.
We’re always happy to help you discover something new!

🍷 How to Keep Your Open Bottle of Wine Fresh 🍷

At Hastings Wine and Coffee, we know there’s nothing worse than opening a bottle of wine and not being able to finish it in one sitting! But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with these simple tips to keep your wine tasting its best:

Re-Cork It Right – Always store your wine with the cork back in place. If the cork’s not in great shape, consider using a wine stopper for a better seal. 🌟

Chill or Keep Cool – White wines should be refrigerated, and reds do best in a cool, dark place. A wine fridge is ideal, but the regular fridge works too! ❄️

Vacuum Seals Are a Game-Changer – Invest in a vacuum wine preserver to remove air and help preserve the taste for longer. 🍷

We like “Vacu Vin” in particular - we stock these in the shop. They’re great, because they do the job and are reasonably priced. Other brands include Coravin, Le Crueset and UberStar wine Saver.

Drink It Soon – Even with all the tricks, wine is best enjoyed within 3-5 days once opened. That’s your window to enjoy it at its peak! 🕒

Next time you stop by our shop, ask about our wine stoppers and preservation tips! We’re always here to help you make the most out of every bottle. 🏆

Wine Down Sunday is happening today.

Our featured wines by the glass are all £5 per glass.
It would be rude not to try one!😊🥴

We don’t just have a rose, we have a cheeky white which punches way above its weight. The Wine Merchant ranks it top of the world white wines for great flavour and value. 🙌

This wine is an Albarin from Spain called Calma Indomita (calm untamable). It’s going down well with people tasting the white flowers, stone fruits, mineral and citrus tasting notes.

Pop in to relax - we have the board games out but if that’s not your thing you can just chill out.

One of our wines available to try is this 2023 Rosa Bianca - a lovely Italian rose, Pinot Grigio with pear, white peach and citrus tasting notes. A light body and with refreshing acidity it’s easy to enjoy.

Wow, what a lovely evening we had at our second slow book group meeting!

A big thank you to all that came along, and also all of you that have signed up via our WhatsApp group link but couldn’t make this week.

We had great discussions about all aspects of ‘All The Colours of The Dark’ by Chris Witaker, and paired this book with a fantastic orange wine from Georgia - Bedoba, a truly exceptional wine!

Our next read is…
‘Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson’
Our next meeting
03/09/25 - Looking forward to it already.

So if you enjoy a good book, a great glass of wine , friendly conversation and amazing coffee, please join us for the next one. Pop in the shop to find out more, join via our WhatsApp link or just come along on the 3rd September!

Cheers!! Gem

Save the Date! We are hosting a Sip & Learn event to explore those less well know white grape varieties.

Tuesday, 5th August, 7pm | Only 8 Spots Available!

On the back of the great feedback from our previous events we are delighted to invite you to our next one. White wine is made from many different grape varieties but, some (e.g. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc) get more exposure than others!

We will take you through some of the less well known varieties and explore the tasting notes, aromas, wine making techniques. Plus, we'll discuss food pairing options for our new discoveries.

£25 per person – includes, nibbles, wine tasting and a £5 voucher redeemable against the purchase of two or more bottles of wine on the evening. Booking is now live!

We did a "collab"! 😁

Spirit of the Downs asked us to provide our award winning beans from our sister company Bean Smitten Coffee Roasters.

This delicious liqueur uses our Revive Blend.

The coffee is blended with our signature Sussex French Aged Brandy using the grapes from the best Sussex Sparkling Wine producers and British Sugar.

This Coffee liqueur is bold upfront, with chocolate and caramel notes with a silky mouthfeel and a sweet finish.

It is great on its own, on ice or as part of an Espresso Martini cocktail.

We serve it as an affogato, here at Hastings Wine and Coffee.

Cornish vanilla ice cream, a double espresso and a shot of Boosy Barista! Yummy!
