We are an independent wine and beer merchant based on West Nile Street in Glasgow city centre. Our craft beer range includes many fine brews from Britain, Belgium, the USA, the Czech Republic, and beyond, with everything from the hoppiest of IPAs to the darkest of porters, via lambics, dubbels, tripels, saisons and many more. We have a great range of wine from around the world, with a particular focus on Spain and Italy, as well as classics from France, Australia, Chile, and South Africa amongst others. To round it off we have a choice of champagnes and sparkling wines, along with port, sherry, and dessert wines, while our fine wine cabinet has a small selection or old, rare, or particularly fine wines.

Hello to a brand new week and with that newness comes hot off the press our best selling red and white w**es from the previous week.

Red w**e: the winning bottle was the Raul Perez La Vizcaina ‘La Poulosa’ Bierzo 2020. This is a whole bunch fermented Garncha led field blend is from Spain. You’ll find lots of dark and brambly fruits along with notes of snappy dark chocolate and sea salt. Given the weather last week it’s no wonder this was a popular pick!

White w**e: a tried and true favourite the Domaine de Joan Sancerre Blanc took the crown. From the Loire Valley in France you’ll find notes of lemon zest, green apple and gooseberry. A crisp, precise and elegant example of what this region can offer.

We’re here for all of your b**r and w**e wants/needs until 7pm, and if you’re out and about today take extra care and stay safe!

Top red and white time!

Red is a tasty lil number from Portugal.
Textura W**es ‘Pretexto’ Dao Tinto
Only 12.5% but so flavoursome! Great acidity and easy tannins balanced with crunchy red fruit notes.

The OTX Txakolina is back at number one for the whites.
You guys are wanting the summer back!
This pairs perfectly with fish and shellfish dishes.

It has been a busy week on both sides of the shop, and this lot turned up just in time for the weekend. Lots of styles and breweries covered, including some that are brand new to us.

There’s (deep breath)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 3 belters from Baron, including something new for our ‘Low & No’ shelves, there are a couple of IPAs from Verdant, one of which is a collaboration with Track & Beak so you can get all of your faves in one b**r, Pastore have 2 silly sours, with one in their cocktail range and one that is definitely saying ‘every day, once a day, give yourself a present’ and there’s ‘Good King Henry VII’ a vanilla version of the classic stout from Old Chimneys.

🇫🇷 If you’re a fan of the haze then check these 3 from Sparkle because they are too, dragging the French brewing industry kicking and screaming into the modern age with some hoppy big hitters.

🇪🇸 More fresh fun from Spain’s SOMA, with a west coaster and something juicer aided by some NZ hops.

🇺🇸 RaR hit the shelves again, with 3 sours in collaboration with Beak, Deya and Uchu, and Finback are… eh… back with a couple of serious IPAs and a silly Imperial Stout.

So, there should be something here for you whatever your plans for the weekend and beyond 🍻

Six b**rs for six years of thee mighty Holy Goat Brewing!

Look at that line up!

In bottle there’s a mixed ferm with ginger, another with Scottish blackcurrants, a w**e barrel aged mixed fermentation Imperial Stout and - particularly exciting for at least one member of staff - a Flanders Red aged in Jenever barrels. If that wasn’t enough then there’s also cans of Bock Bier (bock is German for goat, so you’ll see what they did there) and another Imperial Stout, this one based on a Dundee Cake (they brew in Dundee, so again…) in collaboration with Emperors.

These always go fast, but we reckon this batch even more so. So, you know what to do.

A nice wee day for Scottish b**r and c***r from all over.
STFs Twisted Pilsner is back, alongside a sour with Meadowsweet & Lemon and - seeing as the nights are drawing in - their Scottish/Heavy, an absolutely magnificent 70 /- for all you malt lovers out there. 🍻

Vault City have teamed up with some Canadian pals for this week’s sour selection, including the latest take on ‘Stoopid’, this time with Cherry, Rhubarb, Blackberry, Strawberry, Vanilla & Coconut. 🚰

And then there’s the c***r we mentioned. There’s actually a lot more than this, but you’ll have to wait until the weekend for the full selection at our C***r tasting on Saturday. How do you like them apples (and pears, some of the, are Perry)… 🍎

Top red and white w**es from last week.

For the red it was Domaine de Saje Côtes-du-Rhône 2024
A warming blend of Grenache and Syrah, think rich, dark fruits.

For the white it was Kaltern Pinot Grigio 2025.
Aromatic with flavours of ripe stone fruits, balanced with a juicy acidity.
Think of this as a great w**e not just a Pinot G.

Well now, isn’t it dreich? Moods are even lower than the temperature outside and lots of you seem to have been caught without a brolly.

Fortunately we’ll always have b**r (and w**e, see our stories for more of that) and this little lot are all fresh on the shelves and on the web now.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Stenroth have teamed up with Two Towns Down for a New England Pale hopped with Krush & Mosaic and Otherworld bring us the latest version of their hazy pale Free Spirit. Was it always Gluten Free? Well, it is now!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Talking of Gluten Free, Arbor have taken their Mosaic pale and dialled it up to IPA strength with the (fruit) punchy ‘Mega Mosaic’, and there’s the latest version of that modern classic The Kernel’s Table B**r.

🇪🇺 aaaaaaaaaand in Euro B**rs there’s Germany’s oldest Weizendoppelbock, perfect for keeping the chill from your bones and the 2024 vintage of Boon’s Schaarbeekse Kriek, their beautiful Lambic aged on intense Belgian cherries.

We can already feel our day improving.

Is it the weekend yet?

It has been quite a day here on West Nile St. but some of us have a day off tomorrow and some Scottish b**rs have arrived to see us through. Our lovely pals at STF dropped in Saison Rouge (yeah, a red saison! Colour us interested 🔴) alongside a fresh take on Claudia, their delicious NEIPA, this time with some Strata in there for an extra bit of bitter bite alongside the fruity fun. ☁️

And if you’re in the mood for something a little more daft then Vault City are ushering in Spooky Season with a bright green Gose and a frightening levels of pumpkin spice. 🎃
