Good Spirits Wine & Beer The newest wine merchant in the city centre. Opened June 2015, we aim to be the best independent win

We are an independent wine and beer merchant based on West Nile Street in Glasgow city centre. Our craft beer range includes many fine brews from Britain, Belgium, the USA, the Czech Republic, and beyond, with everything from the hoppiest of IPAs to the darkest of porters, via lambics, dubbels, tripels, saisons and many more. We have a great range of wine from around the world, with a particular f

ocus on Spain and Italy, as well as classics from France, Australia, Chile, and South Africa amongst others. To round it off we have a choice of champagnes and sparkling wines, along with port, sherry, and dessert wines, while our fine wine cabinet has a small selection or old, rare, or particularly fine wines.

It’s another thirsty Thursday and we’re happy to report that we have taken delivery of a bumper bunch of British beer in the last 24 hours.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 There’s fresh Vault City (including a Lichtenhainer, which is both sour and smoked, definitely an interesting tick for niche beer fans) there are a couple of new Otherworlds alongside the latest version of their Scottish Smoked Lager, Overtone have a delicious new Pale (named after synth presets, rather than the Clarence Carter heartbreaker) and we’ve stocked up on Up Front.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Pastore bring us 3 new sours (including one with Dekopon, which is like the juiciest clementine to ever pass your/my lips 🤤), Baron are back with a West Coaster, a hazy IPA and a ridiculous DIPA, and just squeezing into the last frame and no more there’s a whole lot of juicy fun from Verdant with everything from a Radler to the quite marvellously named DIPA ‘Hop Custard’.

That should keep you going until your tea’s ready. There might even be some left over to see you through the weekend.

We’re easing Oor David back in to the swing of things with a small but perfectly formed selection of new beers to get on the shelves this

Don’t tell him about everything that’s arriving tomorrow or he’ll be back in bed with a damp cloth on his forehead 🤫🤐🤕

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 A gluten free lager from Wiper & True for our coeliac friends and a brand new brew of Table Beer from The Kernel, this time jam packed with Idaho 7.

🇺🇸 Toppling Goliath with a beautifully balanced Pale, KCBC with a classic West Coast IPA and a fresh batch of Allagash White for all you Witbier lovers, it’s the good stuff.

🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

It’s New Beer Tuesday and this week it’s all about Canada.

Canada have brought us much of the stuff of life: Maple Syrup, Margaret Atwood, some of the finest unhinged disco you will ever hear, a few of our David’s favourite wines in the shop, John Candy and so much more.

Today, they provide us with some very fun beverages. Mostly beer, but also a couple of very silly (and indeed very dilly) ‘others’.

☝️Bellwoods with 3 belting sours and a delicious pale.

👉Dieu du Ciel with a lemon and pepper sour witbier 😋, an IPA with kumquats and two versions of ‘Péché Mortel’, one of the finest imperial stouts know to man.

👉👉Blood Brothers with ‘Paradise Lost’, a sour with Mango & Carolina Reaper chillies 🥵

👉👉👉 Last but absolutely not least it’s Burdock with a juicy IPA with Yakima Chief Hops alongside the aforementioned silliness. Yes, those are 2 pickle based beverages: ‘Lit Pickle’, a hard seltzer and ‘Pickle Water’, which… pretty much does exactly as it says. Too fun to ignore, we had to have these on the shelves.

It’s a good day for fresh Scottish beer here on West Nile St.

Dundee’s Holy Goat are back with this year’s vintage of Shrinebuilder, their mixed ferm golden sour, alongside 2 new ones in the form of ‘Goosegog’, a red gooseberry Gose in collaboration with Futtle & Scratch Brewing, and ‘Endless Flight’ a West Coast IPA with a classic hop bill of Centennial, Cascade & Amarillo.

Glasgow is represented by 2 collaborations in celebration of 850 years of our fair city with STFs Belgian Pale ‘Saint Enoch’ and Overtone & Mains Brewing getting together for ‘Mother Glasgow’, a Summer Pale Ale. As if that wasn’t enough there’s also a fresh new Extra Pale Ale from Mains all on his lonesome.

Pilot representing Edinburgh with a Wit (gettit?) Beer in collaboration with The Stand comedy club for their 30th Anniversary just in time for the Fringe, with a Summer Fruit Sour and an Elderflower Rice lager (and lots of other favourites) joining for the ride.

Just a wee selection for you all pals.

Anspach & Hobday with a Citra, Nectaron and Hallertau Blanc Pale and a Pineapple Gose (it’s got that Maldon salt in it, so you know it’s good), Deya with Nelson and Motueka versions of Steady Rolling Man, Kernel with an Audacia Pale (we can vouch for this one, a belter) and Rodenbach with ‘Fruitage’, their Cherry beer.

Anyway, we’ll let you get back to whatever it was you were doing before we started talking to you about delicious beer. Cheers for now! 🍻

WEEKEND WINE TIME!

As previously mentioned, it has been a very nice week for new arrivals. We talked (nonsense) about the beer earlier and now it’s time for the wiiiiiiiiiiine.

We are very excited to have our first Frank Cornelissen - one of the godfathers of natural wine - on the shelves, Susucaru has so much fruit but with an additional minerality from the Sicilian soil. Alongside that there’s a delicious natty Saumur Champigny and a Pinot Noir from Carcassonne.

👉 for a rosé Pet Nat and an Orange from Pierre & Antonin (who are also responsible for the Pinot Noir) and a fresh Vinho Verde from Ermelinda.

We can tell you that at least one of these is going home with us this evening, the Friday feeling is upon us!

🥂

Howdy pardners, it’s time for another GSCoW&B Friday round up 🤠 (no lasso emoji?)

It has been a really nice couple of days for new arrivals, with Scotland, England, Colorado via France, Texas and Switzerland providing everything from session strength sours, through pales, (pink!) lagers, West Coasters, stouts to TIPAs.

It’s a real nice selection if we do say so ourselves, and we do.

Stay tuned for some real nice wines shortly, and y’all take care now y’hear. (Why did I decide to do this in character? Maybe the Jester King Texan thing, or maybe the heat is just getting to me, who knows?).

are 7️⃣❗️

Depending on who in the shop you ask it’s either the SEH-VEN-TH birthday or the SIV’NTH birthday, but either way Vault City are celebrating 7 years in the business of beer with 6 silly sours and a big stout.

True to our word, it’s BEER time.

Juicy bangers from Baron and Verdant alongside the arrival of some of the most exciting stouts, porters & Impys (including an Islay Barrel Aged Black Albert from De Struisse) we have seen in a while. Yes, just in time for the hottest weekend of the year, what of it?

There might even be more to come, so we had best get back to it.

Cheers for now 🍻

One of those ‘small but perfectly formed’ days:

Some mixed ferm fun from Burning Sky, one with damsons (place your bets on how many times I’ll say ‘damn son!’ this week) and a blend of various vintages of ‘Anniversaire’ with a bunch of fruit, hops & spices that sounds absolutely droolworthy.

3 fresh Kernels. If you’re reading this I reckon you already know how good they are, so I won’t go on about it. Just consider this a PSA.

Aaaaaaaand, we have bolstered our alcohol free section with an IPA from Whiplash, a blonde from La Trappe and a Radler from Lucky Saint.

It’s warm out there, get yourself a beer and relax.

More to come this week, but these are all on the shelves and online. 🍻
