✨ What an incredible night! ✨
I am absolutely delighted and humbled to share that we won the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Award at the Retail Industry Awards 2025 🏆💙
This award means so much because it reflects the heart of what we do at One Stop Dumbarton Road – making sure that everyone feels welcome, valued and represented. Our store is about more than shopping – it’s about community, kindness and celebrating people from all walks of life.
A huge thank you to my amazing team, our wonderful customers, and my wider retail family who inspire me daily. To be recognised nationally amongst so many outstanding retailers is a moment I’ll never forget.
And a special mention to the lovely couple from Canada I met on the train travelling to London yesterday – thank you for your kind words and good wishes, they really meant the world! ❤️🇨🇦

Being a woman in business is not for the faint-hearted.

I’ve been called “hormonal” for speaking up.
I’ve been told to “sell my shop” because I’m just a “silly little girl” who doesn’t know what she’s doing.
I’ve been dismissed, undermined, and had my achievements brushed aside—no matter how hard I’ve worked or what I’ve accomplished.

And yet… here I am.

Running a thriving business.
Raising three amazing children.
Investing in innovation, building a loyal and empowered team, supporting my community.
Proud to be a member of the Scottish District for The Fed.
An ACS Ambassador representing independent retailers on a national platform.
And a passionate voice for Women in Convenience, helping drive real change for women in our sector.

I’ve had to fight for my seat at the table, and at times, for my right to even be in the room. But I’ve learned that the very things people tried to use against me—emotion, empathy, strength, vulnerability—are my greatest assets.

To every woman who has ever been doubted, dismissed, or made to feel small: keep showing up, keep speaking out, and never let anyone dim your light. You belong here. We all do.
