It's finally Friday, and that means it's time for cocktails!!

We've two super-tasty recipes for you to try at home.
First, we've got a Passionfruit Margarita!
To make:
Fill your glass with ice.
Pour 80ml Espolon Tequila, 40ml Chinola, 40ml lime juice and 20ml Agave nectar into a shaker with some ice. SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE!
Strain and pour into your glass with ice, and garnish with half a fresh passionfruit.

Second: Passionfruit Gin fizz!
To make:
Fill high ball with ice.
Pour in 45ml of Sipsmith Gin.
Add 60ml Chinola. Stir together.
Top up with Fever Tree Lime soda, and Garnish with a lime slice.

These are both super refreshing on a hot, sunny day like today. Why not give them a try yourself?

You will have seen our introduction to the brand new Gardeners Gin a few days ago, and In-house Cocktail fan Charlotte has come up with the for you!

To Achieve 'The Cockpitt' :

Start your engines with a large glass full of ice, add a measure(or 2!) of The Gardener Gin, fill the glass 3/4 full with Miraval Rose, a dash of Campari for depth and colour, then fill to the top with tonic. We chose a gorgeous Ruby red Grapefruit half to garnish, but Blood orange could also work! Super refreshing, the perfect match for a summer's day☀

Although it felt as hot as California last week, that's where we're headed for this weeks tasting counter ☀️

Zinfandel is one of the signature grapes for the region, also known from Italy as Primitivo. We've got 2 fab choices open, the super fresh Kendall-Jackson, and the complex old-vine Three Finger Jack. We've got 2 interesting whites, a crisp, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from Bread and Butter, and a DELICIOUS viognier from Nettie.

This week Jane’s drinking Dom Tabordet Organic Pouilly Fumé 2023 🌱🇫🇷

This isn’t just any Loire Sauvignon Blanc. Marius Tabordet, former rugby player, now maverick winemaker, has transformed his family’s Pouilly-Fumé estate. Since taking over from his father, Marius has led the 15-hectare domaine through organic certification in 2021 and into full biodynamic viticulture by 2023.

"I met Marius at the family winery in early spring 2024 and wow, what a character," says Jane Masters MW. "A bit of a maverick in the region, both in the vineyard and in his approach to winemaking. We immediately jumped into his truck for a tour of the vineyards, which are all biodynamically farmed – no mean feat given the Loire climate. Little did we know then how difficult the 2024 growing season would prove. The 2023 Pouilly Fumé shows a steely mineral character, with mid-palate fruit emerging into a crisp citrus finish."

It’s a vibrant, expressive wine with pure citrus, white stone fruit and signature Pouilly flint. Perfect with grilled fish, prawns or a fresh goat’s cheese salad.

Two brand new Italian wines have just arrived 🇮🇹🤌🏽

If you like Chianti, then Rimini Rosso is for you. Made from 100% Sangiovese, it’s rich and fruity with flavours of blackcurrant and red plum along with a touch of spicy and toasted oak.

Rimini Bianco, made from 100% Trebbiano, is a delightfully fresh wine with golden apple, quince, macerated flowers and a zesty touch. It’s medium body and mineral structure make it the perfect pairing with seafood or even roast chicken.

Majestic has worked with Cave de Lugny for many years now. They’re based in the heart of the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy 🇫🇷 and are one of the region’s most respected co-operatives. Founded in the 1920s, they bring together hundreds of growers across a patchwork of limestone-rich vineyards — the kind of soils Chardonnay really thrives in!

The Mâconnais itself is a slightly warmer part of Burgundy, bringing a riper, more generous fruit profile to the wines. While it might not have the prestige of the Côte d’Or further north, it offers fantastic value for money 💸. Wines from here tend to be open, expressive, and incredibly food-friendly, and this Definition bottling captures all of that.

It’s fresh and precise, with notes of citrus, white peach and a soft touch of hazelnut. Just enough oak adds texture and depth without losing that lovely lift of fruit. A really well-balanced wine that’s easy to enjoy – I love it with creamy chicken dishes or soft cheeses 🧀
