Element Wines was started in February 2018 by Simon and Steven to import wines we love from small estates we have visited over the years. Our producers work organically, biodynamically and sustainably to make wines with a sense of place, as well as respecting the land from which they come. Chemical use is minimised – or in some instances, done away with altogether – in both the vineyard and the ce

llar.

Our wines can be found in many of the best restaurants in the UK and special selections of them are also made every month and delivered to our wine club customers.

We like wines which are bright and characterful, alive and vibrant. We don't work with massive, heavy or over-oaked wines that can overwhelm you. Ours are exciting wines, that go well with a great meal, but most importantly, taste amazing!

Les Vins de l’Arpette
Gaillac, South West France 🇫🇷

Aurélie and Paul started this domaine in 2016 ( “Arpette” means apprentice ) and have grown it from 3 vats in a garage to around 6 hectares in and around Castelnau-de-Montmiral in Gaillac. Chickens, sheep and children roam freely and there is great emphasis on biodiversity and a healthy environment - vines are cultivated biodynamically and there is very little intervention in the cellar, with only a minimal amount of SO2 used if necessary at bottling. A great new find! The wines we start with:

Ce Blanc-Bec 2023 Crisp, grassy Mauzac & Loin de l’Oeil.
Arrose 2022 Mauzac & Loin de l’Oeil with a little Braucol, Duras & Merlot. Rich fruit rosé.
Masqué 2022 Pet Nat Sauvignon Blanc with great texture.
Le Pif de l’Arpette 2023 100% Braucol - fresh acidity with a little South West grip.

With us pouring his wines at the Spring Tasting on Monday - Duncan Geddes 🍷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🇫🇷 Château de Mayragues, Gaillac.

Alan Geddes and his Parisienne wife Laurence acquired what was then a run down estate in 1980 and ever since have poured love into it. They restored the old château and gave life to the vineyards once more, first through organics and since 1999 through a biodynamic approach and a lot of attention to detail. Their children, Duncan and Anne, both born in the ‘80s, are now involved and constantly moving the estate forwards. Their 12 hectares of vineyards, two thirds red varieties / one third white are bordered by fields and woodland, protecting the biodynamic vines within!

Pouring at the Spring Tasting! 🍷

🇫🇷 Château de la Selve, Ardèche

Florence and Benöit Chazallon are now at the reigns at this old family estate which dates back hundreds of years. 40 hectares are cultivated biodynamically and organically in the heart of the Ardèche. Excellent terroir, day and night temperature variation, fastidious attention to the soils and vines and a light touch in the winery are all in evidence in their wines.

David Morris continues to develop his new winery and consults on several quality organic / biodynamic vineyards in the south. The Mountain People cellar is growing with the return of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir he planted and has since bought from his previous employer... Cowboys Don’t Have Curls is a new collaboration with the Mayland Vineyard in Somerset, produced by Dave at the cellar in Monmouthshire. He’ll have 5 wines to show that he happily had labelled for us last week!

The project begun in the early 1980s, when Antonella and Marco had few ambitions beyond the desire to make wine for themselves and their friends, Folicello was farmed organically from the start and is situated midway between Modena and Bologna. Their daughters Federica and Francesca now work with them, continuing the good practices in place, including some biodynamic principals and real dedication to soil management and biodiversity (maintaining hedges and woodland) alongside a genuine low intervention approach in the winery. As you would expect from one of our producers all pruning is done by hand, as is the harvest, and yields are much much lower here than is common locally. There is also a commitment to local grape varieties such as Montuni and Malbo Gentile. Superb Pet Nats, including Il Macerato which has 20 days of skin contact. The red, Gocce Rosse, has zero added SO2.
