Next up in our Oktoberfest lineup is from Spaten. A mainstay in our fridges when we can get their beers.

Spaten
Tracing its roots back to 1397, Spaten is one of Munich’s most historic and influential breweries, emerging from the early Welser Prew brewpub and later gaining its familiar name under the Spatt family. In 1807, the royal court brewer Gabriel Sedlmayr acquired what was then a modest operation and transformed it into Munich’s leading brewery. His son introduced industrial advances, like steam-powered brewing and precision tools, that made Spaten a trailblazer in German lagering traditions. By the 1860s, it had grown to be the largest brewery in Munich and innovated further by launching the Münchner Hell (Munich Helles) in 1894, setting a new standard in pale lagers.

Spaten remains faithful to the Bavarian Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot), brewer of beers using only water, malt, hops, and yeast, ensuring classic flavour and integrity. Many of its beers are suitable for vegans, as they forego animal-derived fining agents. The brewery continues to embody a harmonious blend of time-honoured tradition and steadfast quality, celebrated especially during its presence at Oktoberfest.

Next brewery up is Hacker Pschorr. We have both keg and bottles of their Oktoberfest Bier!
Hacker-Pschorr is a brewery in Munich, formed in 1972 out of the merger of two breweries, Hacker and Pschorr. Hacker was founded in 1417, nearly a century before the enactment of the Reinheitsgebot beer purity law of 1516.

Lets take a closer look at the beers we are showcasing during out Oktoberfest celebrations next week. From the 18th September - 14th October (or when the beer is gone).

First up we have Ayinger Fest-Marzen. Keg and bottles.
In the idyllic Upper Bavarian village of Aying, halfway between Munich and the Alps, brewing culture and hospitality have a long tradition, which has been cultivated by our family for 7 generations.

For over 140 years, the Ayinger private brewery has stood for excellent Bavarian beer culture and is one of the most awarded breweries in Europe.

Enjoy our Ayinger beer specialties, traditionally brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516, freshly tapped in our Ayinger Bräustüberl – a prime example of the best Bavarian inn culture and the main taproom of our brewery.

The Aying Brewery Inn Hotel , located in the village center directly opposite the Bräustüberl (brewery taproom), offers 48 lovingly furnished rooms in the 4-star superior category. In our restaurant, we serve Bavarian cuisine of the highest quality, and our individual event rooms are perfect for celebrations and meetings.

Welcome to Aying and enjoy authentic Bavarian lifestyle with us.

Well done to those who sent their answer in a postcard. No it isn't Grolsch, Madri Lite, or Carling Black Label!

Four new beers from Azvex are nicely sat in our fridges 🙌

Moore's Law 5.2%. A juicy 5.2% DDH IPA loaded with Citra, El Dorado and Mosaic. Expect big hits of citrus, tropical fruit and stone fruit, with a soft, hazy finish. Full of flavour without the hefty ABV.

Markov Chains 6.2%. A 6.2% IPA brewed with Nectaron, Elani and Citra.

Nectaron brings ripe peach, passionfruit and citrus, while Citra adds layers of grapefruit, lime and tropical fruit. Elani adds its own character to the mix, bringing bright citrus, tropical fruit and subtle floral notes alongside the more familiar Citra and Nectaron profile.

Like a Markov Chain, each hop builds on what comes before it, creating a sequence of flavours that moves from one note to the next.

Lethal Hop Dose: Vial 002 6.8%. This is the second dose of our most heavily hopped IPA experiment, pushing DIPA-level hopping into a regular-strength IPA. Built to see just how much hop intensity we could pack into one beer, Lethal Hop Dose 002 delivers a huge hit of lime, tropical fruit, citrus, white grape and juicy hop character. Thick, hazy and completely overloaded, with massive aroma, saturated flavour and a clean, hoppy finish.

Kami's Lookout 7%. A 7% IPA brewed high above the clouds, where only the strongest flavours survive. Motueka, Waimea and Citra unleash waves of lime, citrus and tropical fruit, delivering a hop profile with a power level that’s off the charts.
