This weekend we have open for tasting two fabulous new additions to the JN portfolio. Both from Bordeaux and each consummate accompaniments to the glorious summer sunshine ☀️ 🇫🇷

Château de Cranne is based in the commune of Donzac and craft unconventional, forward-looking Bordeaux wines using lesser-known varieties and techniques 🍇

‘Clay’ is 100% Marselan, vinified using carbonic maceration followed by indigenous yeast fermentation. The result is a moderate alcohol (12.5%), juicy, fruit-forward Bordeaux with notes of crushed strawberry, raspberry coulis and dried herbs. Best served slightly chilled! 🍷

Next we introduce the welcome return of Château Tour de Mirambeau, produced by the revered Despagne family in the Entre-deux-Mers. The ‘Tour de Mirambeau Réserve Blanc’ is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend abounding with pure apricot, grapefruit and lemongrass notes, propelled by zesty acidity to a pleasing mineral finish 🍷

Both wines are open for tasting until 7pm this evening (Friday 20th) and from 12pm tomorrow (Saturday 21st) in our Crossgar store. Completely free of charge! 🙌

This morning, the JN Retail Team took a trip up to our close friends Rademon Estate for a tasting and a tour of the Shortcross distillery 🥃

Rademon Estate Distillery is nestled within the heart of the historic 500- acre estate in County Down, founded in 2012 by Fiona and David Boyd-Armstrong.

David gave the team a detailed rundown of the processes involved in crafting these spirits with samples from grain to glass.

As Head Distiller, David emphasises the importance of doing "everything by taste", not by strength, volume or time.

A big thank you to David and the team at Rademon Estate Distillery for their hospitality.

JN Team member Edel had the great privilege of visiting our long-time partners in the Douro, Quinta de la Rosa 🇵🇹

Sophia graciously took time out of her busy schedule to give Edel a tour Quinta de la Rosa, situated not far from the town of Pinhão in the Cima Corgo - the heart of the Douro and premier region for wine growing and high quality Port and dry wines 🍷

Edel enjoyed a beautiful lunch and tasting on Tim’s Terrace, named after Sophia’s late father, Tim Bergvist, a driving force towards quality in Quinta de la Rosa’s history. This was followed by dinner in their stunning restaurant, Cozinha da Clara, with its airy vantage point overlooking the river 🍽️

Thanks to Sophia and her team for their wonderful hospitality. Should you find yourself in Pinhão, Quinta de la Rosa is well worth a visit - be it for a tour, tasting, or dining (or all in one!) 🥂

The JN Wine Annual Portfolio Tastings commence today! 🎉

Our Annual Portfolio Tastings held in Belfast on Monday 12th May and Dublin on Tuesday 13th May offer the opportunity to discover our ever-growing range of artisan wines from across the globe 🍷

Continuing our producer introductions, we have Caterina from Sartarelli in Le Marche, Italy 🇮🇹

This family estate is famous for their Verdicchio wines, the indigenous variety to which they are solely committed, working with respect to their local terroir (Chemical Free Vineyards certified by RINA AGROQ) in the verdant and rolling hills of Castelli di Jesi Classico 🌱

With a raft of awards and critical acclaim under their belt, we are thrilled that they will be showcasing their excellent wines at the tastings this evening and tomorrow 🥂

JN Wine in Burgundy 🇫🇷

We continued our visits in the Côte de Beaune to friends old and new. Firstly to Justin Girardin at the eponymous domaine in Santenay, whose upward trajectory continued with a fine raft of 2023s on show🍷

Then it was up to Meloisey in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune to meet with Gaëtane of Domaine Denis Carré, an excellent family domaine making some of the finest wines in this increasingly attractive, high-altitude portion of the Côte as well as some sterling Pommards, Beaunes, Auxey-Duresses, and Meursaults among their offering 🍷
