Some organic wines are genuinely low intervention and low in sulphites. Sadly, some aren’t, and it’s not always easy to tell from the label which is which.

Many people assume that if a wine is labelled “organic”, it must automatically be low in sulphites and minimally processed. Sadly, that isn’t always true.

Under current EU regulations, certified organic wines can still contain relatively high sulphite levels, along with a wide range of permitted additives and intervention techniques.

That means some commercially produced “organic” wines may still be heavily manipulated during the winemaking process.

At Good Wine Online, we believe organic wine should mean more than just a label.

That’s why we focus on wines made properly by passionate family producers using low intervention methods and extremely low sulphite levels wherever possible.

We also try to list the free sulphite content on our wines, helping customers make more informed choices about what they’re drinking.

When choosing organic wine, it’s worth looking beyond the certification alone.
