🍷🇫🇷 LE BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU EST ARRIVÉ! 🇫🇷🍷

Forget Christmas. Forget Easter. The most important Thursday of the year is nearly upon us. And of course, it involves drinking w**e.

Thursday 19th November is Beaujolais Nouveau Day! 🥳

What started as a cheeky post-harvest knees-up in rural France has turned into a global celebration of fresh, fruity and dangerously gluggable w**e. The French even made it official by law. Frankly, we admire their priorities.

We’ll be celebrating in our usual style with Bojo-fanatic Jack pouring Chateau Thivin Beaujolais Nouveau 2026 alongside a selection of fantastic cru Beaujolais from previous vintages.

There’s a limited number of seats for this one so if you’re a Gamay-lover, get in quick….

Forget supermarket Prosecco and Ch*****nes with celebrity-sized marketing budgets. We’re celebrating the wonderfully diverse world of fizz and will be opening up 12+ w**es to share with you.

🍾 Grower Ch*****ne – Small producers, big personalities and some seriously impressive bubbles.

🇬🇧 English Sparkling W**e – World-class bubbles made right on our doorstep. Our little island has some serious fizz-making talent and we have a few new producers we want to show you.

🤪 The Weird & Wonderful – Wild pét-nats, obscure grapes and some gloriously bonkers bottles from around the world.

🇬🇷🍷 It’s time to get yourselves acquainted with Thymiopoulos Vineyards.

Based in Naoussa in northern Greece, Apostolos Thymiopoulos is one of the names responsible for putting Xinomavro firmly on the map.

Think of Xinomavro as Greece’s wonderfully unruly answer to Nebbiolo – bright red fruit, herbs, spice, plenty of freshness and just enough tannin to remind you who’s boss.

Thymiopoulos takes all of that character and gives it a beautifully elegant, modern spin. Organic vineyards, minimal intervention and w**es ranging from the ridiculously drinkable Rosé de Xinomavro to the altogether more serious Earth & Sky.

We’re planning on showing both of these w**es at our tasting on Friday 23rd October, alongside some other seriously good Greek w**es.

So If there are any Greek w**es sceptics out there, banish those memories of Retsina, book yourself in and prepare to be converted.

Our BLANKbottle event last night was a lot of fun!

It was great to show seven of Pieter Walsers w**es and we had two standout winners:

🌊 Seelug Chardonnay - £38.99

Meaning “sea air” in Afrikaans, Seelug comes from an ocean-facing vineyard on the Helderberg, exposed to cooling maritime winds. Fresh, saline and beautifully restrained, it combines lime and lemongrass with orchard fruit, oatmeal and a subtle touch of oak. Serious Chardonnay, but never short on personality.

🍷 Pierre Le Cois - £38.49

A silky, Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Packed with plum, redcurrant and cassis, alongside graphite, dried herbs and peppery spice, it’s structured, savoury and wonderfully polished.

One white. One red. Two brilliant examples of Pieter Walser’s ability to tell the story of a vineyard through what’s inside the bottle—never what’s written on the label.

Introducing the two standout winners from last week’s Dark Rosé and Chilled Reds tasting:

🍷 Il Borghetto ‘Monty’ 2021

A lively, elegant expression of Tuscan Sangiovese from maverick w**emaker Antonio Cavallino. Naturally fermented with native yeasts, taken off the skins early and aged for eight months in concrete, Monty has a beautifully delicate, pale colour more reminiscent of a deep rosé rather than a light red.

Almost orange-w**e-like in the glass, it offers lifted aromas of wild strawberry and tangy cranberry, with a subtle savoury edge. And, as one guest pointed out, there’s a dog on the label—so naturally, it’s destined to be a bestseller!

🍷 Viñas del Cenit Field Blend Tradición 2024

A firm favourite with the Tivoli W**es team, this characterful Spanish ‘clarete’ comes from 80–100-year-old vines in the lesser-known Tierra del Vino de Zamora region.

Co-fermented from red and white grapes, it sits deliciously between a pale red and a deep rosé. Serve chilled to enjoy its bright cherry, raspberry and bramble fruit, complemented by a gentle herbal note.

Two wonderfully refreshing bottles, ready and waiting for the next heatwave.

You’ll need:
🍇 A minimum WSET Level 2 qualification
😊 Excellent customer service skills
📅 Availability to work evenings and weekends, but not every weekend…we’re not animals
🍷 A genuine passion for w**e* — and the enthusiasm to share it at our events
