It’s quite at the beach at Charmouth this morning
It’s nice to see some rain

I cut this large pyrite ammonite as it was too badly encrusted in iron pyrite
Usually these cut quite well with nice calcite filled chambers
And wasn’t disappointed this will polish up very well

These ammonites are from Madagascar
They were to encrusted with iron to prepare so I cut them to show the internal structure
With our diamond blade saw

Unusual to find a nautilus that wasn’t totally covered in rock usually it would have been squashed flat but for some reason wasn’t crushed by the weight of sediment building up on top of it during fossilisation
