Back open today from 12. So come say hi. A week without being open for a small one man business is hard to handle so I hope you are all very thirsty.

We won't be open tomorrow as I need to rest up some more which means run club is back on 24th January.

I'm not feeling very well so we're closed today. Hopefully we'll be back open tomorrow.

Wind back 8/9 years ago and we were relocating to Cardiff and I knew Liz (from The Moon) from booking her bands for shows in London and I had an idea for an indie beer place that could also facilitate live bands etc. So I dropped Liz a message asking what the venues in Cardiff was like. I got a very detailed reply that listed (with pros and cons of each space) all the places and spaces that could host live music from Liz (as always going above and beyond).

Here's the list without the added details:

Tramshed
Portland House
10 Feet Tall
Undertone
Buffalo
Gwdihw
Clwb Ifor Bach upstairs,
Clwb Ifor Bach downstairs
Four Bars At Dempseys
The Full Moon downstairs
The Moon upstairs
Abacus
The Globe
The Gate
Glee Club
Fuel
Chapter Arts Centre
Masonic Hall / Norwegian Church

A pretty sobering list. Admittedly not all these are/were regular venues. But the end that's taken a hammering are the smaller spots for upcoming bands or local acts. Part of the attraction of moving to the city (from London) was it seemed to have a vibrant music scene with plenty of space that could be called 'grass roots'. I think we as a City have lost this. It's really not the same place musically that we chose to move to in 2016.
