Thoughts from our Tasting Panel:

“A highland dram with an expected tropical fruit nature that you can identify immediately. Kiwi skin and papaya can be tasted on the palate, alongside a custard note which should suggest the kind of texture the panel encountered. Gooseberries and poached pears are on the finish, alongside apple notes which had carried through from the nose - indicating a consistent and settled dram.”

Thoughts from our Tasting Panel:

“Distilled in Ardmore, located in the village of Kennethmont, in rural Aberdeenshire, this 10yo bourbon matured whisky displays salty, maritime notes (such as fishing nets on the nose), complemented by slight fruity hints, indicated by pomegranate on the palate and pear on the finish. The peat grows in the finish too, which also has a nutty note. A warming dram that can appeal to newcomers and experienced drammers alike.”

Set off from the shores of Kintyre and head west, past the timeless Paps of Jura and on to bountiful Islay.

On the northern shores you will find this fan favourite which is making its second appearance in the Original Collection -

This time it's a Caol Ila 10yo 100% first fill bourbon - £45.00

Nose - Maritime notes, burnt orange peel, flint.

Palate - Smoked cheese, peat and a little bit zesty.

Finish - Lemon meringue pie, cheesecake, wet smoke.

A sweet and smoky Islay - you can get your hands on it now.

The Ardmore distillery itself is a large Victorian building which stands out clearly in it's gentle rural surroundings and in a way that image is very representative of the whisky itself - robust, peaty and tangy, it's no wonder our tasting panel referred to this as 'a bit of a beast'. 🥃

Having been compared by a few to a Longrow Red, it's no surprise this dram is turning heads.

Ardmore 11yo Pinot Noir since 2020 - £54.00

Nose - Meaty and candle smoke.

Palate - Strawberry jam, wine gums and cured ham.

Finish - Distant smoke, dried burnt embers, cloves.

🥃 Inchgower 12yo 60% Sherry, 20% Bourbon, 20% Madeira - £55.00

The origins of Inchgower distillery aren't quite as firmly rooted as other distilleries, in fact the distillery once known as Tochieneal was originally located near Cullen before its move to the coast in 1871.

Whatever its history, location or name changes we're certainly glad it's stuck around to continue
making this beautifully spicey, nutty single malt whisky.

Nose - Honey, ripe banana, nutmeg, and tea leaves.

Palate - Ginger, tannin, spicy notes.

Finish - Fruit and nut milk chocolate with a zesty tang.

This slightly unorthodox and intriguing maturation combination offers something new to uncover with every sip.

From Bardstown, Kentucky to Campbeltown - William Cadenhead and William Heavenhill both lend their names to this transatlantic collaboration.

Read these tasting notes and you might assume that they were in fact for a Caribbean rum, but rest assured this is good old American Bourbon.

Nose - Coconut, strawberry laces and hint of leather.

Palate - Almonds, dark chocolate, pineapple.

Finish - Dry, kiwi, Piña Colada.

Their first filling with whisky had a tendency to impart too much colour to the whisky, but as regards colour and flavour these casks, when filled with whisky a second time, were simply splendid.'

The festive season has drawn to a close and we hope you have had a fantastic start to 2022.

🥃Bourbon matured Craigellachie 13yo - 55.9%

Speyside with a twist, this dram could be described as anything but predictable. An interesting mix of sweet and smokey on the nose which continues into the palate with butterscotch and BBQ coals. A more salty/savoury finish makes this dram a bit of a rollercoaster for your taste buds and at £65.00 you can't go wrong!
