2025 World Junior Teams & European Junior Pairs - Salsomaggiore, Italy
There was plenty of Cambs & Hunts representation in the England teams for the championships this year. The best results came for the England U21s with Jamie Fegarty (pictured) in the lineup. They qualified comfortably for the knockout stages and won well against Israel in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately they then narrowly lost an epic semi-final to eventual champions Estonia before then also losing the bronze medal playoff to the USA. However, this was still the best English result in a World Junior championships in the last 15 years.

England failed to reach the knockout stages in any of the other categories (U16, U26, U26W or U31). Liam Fegarty (pictured below with partner Sam Anoyrkatis) represented England in the U26 side. Dido Coley and Lily Kearney of Cambs Uni were in the U26W side.

The County Teams League will begin its new season in September, and teams can now submit their entries. Last year, there were two leagues, and there may be more this year, allowing teams to compete against others of similar skill levels.
Teams Bridge is played between two teams of four players. Each team divides into two pairs; one pair from each team sits North-South, while the other pair sits East-West at a parallel table. Identical deals are played at both tables, and results are compared to determine which team performed better on each hand and ultimately who wins the match.
Teams can have up to six members, with four playing in any one game.
It’s free to play and matches are hosted online via RealBridge, enabling participants to play remotely. The Cambs and Hunts Contract Bridge Association covers all associated costs. Masterpoints are awarded at the end of the season.
Matches are arranged by the captains at times mutually agreed upon by both teams. Each team should consist of four players (up to six allowed per team, with four playing in any given match). Typically, teams play about one game per month.
