Hoglet season is here!

We have been tiptoeing around the rescue for the last 2 weeks after one of our new admissions Millicent gave birth 2 days after admission. Thankfully we were able to treat her dehydration before she gave birth!

With hedgehogs there is a huge risk of the hoglets being rejected due to stress or disturbance so we are very hands off. At 7 days old we had to do a bit of spot cleaning of her nest and can confirm she has 5 healthy hoglets. They will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and must have grown considerably since this photo but thankfully she has been keeping her nest nice and clean so we haven’t had to interfere at all 🫶

On Monday another one of our females also gave birth so we are becoming good at charades here! 🤫
