One of Belgium’s most anticipated annual beer releases is finally here 🇧🇪

Straffe Hendrik Wild 2026 is brewed only once a year at the legendary De Halve Maan brewery in Bruges — and after sampling it ourselves during our visit there last week, we can confirm… it’s something seriously special 👌

Expect bold Belgian Tripel character, complex wild fermentation notes, and the beautifully refined finish that makes every yearly release highly sought after by beer lovers and collectors alike.

Day 2 of the Beerhunter Belgian Beer Tour took us to the legendary De Halve Maan Brewery in the heart of beautiful Brugge 🍻🇧🇪

Home of the world-famous Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik beers, this historic family brewery delivered an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We were expertly guided around the brewery by Hakim, whose passion and knowledge brought the brewing history of Brugge to life.

One of the most fascinating things we learned was about De Halve Maan’s incredible beer pipeline — a 2-mile underground pipeline that connects the historic city-centre brewery to their out-of-town bottling plant, pumping up to 1,500 gallons of beer per hour beneath the streets of Brugge. An ingenious solution that preserves the charm of the city while keeping the beer flowing!

Fantastic beer, rich history, and a truly unique brewery experience. Santé! 🍺

🇧🇪🍺 DAY 1: BEERHUNTER IN BELGIUM 🍺🇧🇪

The hunt has officially begun…

After flying into Belgium, we hit the road for a 2-hour journey to the beautiful town of Watou — home to the legendary St Bernardus Brewery.

We were lucky enough to spend the day with Johannes from St Bernardus, who gave us an incredible behind-the-scenes tour of one of the world’s most respected Belgian breweries 🍻

Founded in the heart of Belgian abbey beer culture, St Bernardus is deeply connected to traditional Trappist brewing history. For many years, the brewery brewed the famous St Sixtus recipes under licence, helping create some of the most iconic Belgian beers ever made — including the world-renowned St Bernardus Abt 12.

While the brewery is no longer run by monks, it remains fiercely independent and continues to produce authentic Belgian abbey beers using traditional methods that have made it famous across the globe 🇧🇪

After the tour, we got to sample some absolutely exceptional beers… and Johannes even introduced us to something VERY special 👀
