Cadus Tupungato Appellation Malbec.

We sold out of this fantastic expression of a Malbec from Mendoza in Argentina after our last wine tasting on the East Lancashire Railway but we’re happy to say we now have it BACK IN STOCK!

A Malbec which showcases winemaker Santiago Mayorga’s belief in Uco valley terroirs. The vineyard for this wine sits in Gualtallary in the Tupungato Appellation and helps create a hugely expressive Malbec.

The combination of altitude (1300m) and rocky soils provide a platform for Malbec to excel. Cadus Tupungato Appellation Malbec wine is intense purple in colour. The wine displays great depth of black fruits, fresh herbal notes and spice. The palate is elegant with lovely weight, bright black fruits and fresh acidity. The finish is long and has silky tannins. Enjoy with roasted lamb, red meats, and the perfect match to the traditional “empanadas” from Argentina (home-made meat pies). Or perfect as a comforting, fireside wine.

With just over a month to go it's about time we started getting excited for the jewel in the crown of our year of big events.

Saturday August 16th is our very first Seafood & Champagne festival & what a day have we got lined up for you. We’ll not have it said that we don’t have something for everyone at The Oxofrd, with a full line up of sparking wines from Kwoff & an even more impressive selection of fresh seafood from Dan & Dan at Fishop Fishmonger this could be our most excellent adventure yet.

From English Sparking Wines to Bottles of Bolly, Oysters to seafood platters, we're pulling out all the stops in our most over the top day out yet.

What could make it even better you ask? Well we've been looking at our calendar & thinking it needs a little of the ol' razzle dazzle & if we can't dust off our fancy pants for a Champagne festival then when can we?! So consider this your one month warning that this a dress to impress situation, think ladies day, think being at a wedding all day, I want to see hats, I want to see floor length dresses in a carpark, I want to see tuxedos, I want to see who wins best dressed I'll be honest. We've got some wonderful people coming interviewing for those who want to show off their outfits to the world. Because when do we ever get chance to get dressed up these days?

Now add to all this, it's free to attend just like always, we've a beautiful friend of ours Gian Luca kicking out some sweet crooning classics in the afternoon then fresh from Glastonbury the magnificent Bossa Dos Patos, a full blown bossa nova band playing us out in the most sophisticated day Shawclough has ever seen.

Les Beaux Brins.

This marvellous blend of Grenache Noir and Syrah from Southern Rhone is fast becoming a Kwoff favourite with customers and staff alike. If you haven’t tried it, what are you waiting for?

Les Beaux Brins is a deep and brilliant ruby colour. This very approachable Ventoux has a fresh, complex and expressive nose of cherries and gooseberries. A sensuous mouth accompanied by silky tannins. The wine is well balanced with a very enjoyable fresh finish to it.

Just one sleep to go & we are so ready for the most cheese & wine Rochdale has ever seen in one place gang.

You know the script by now. Get here at 1pm, swap your money for McNeeney Gold, have as much cheese & wine as your body can take, go home happy. What’s not to love.

We’ll be dishing out the good stuff at the same prices as last year because inflation can do one, we’re here for a good time. £10 gets you 3 McNeeney Gold. A glass of any wine is 1 token. Any bottle, 6 tokens, a cheeseboard 3 tokens. It’s a hell of a system but it works so well.

With almost as many cheeses as we have wines this year we’re pretty excited about this one. Lots of strange & wonderful stuff to try for anyone wanting to leave their comfort zone & some safe as houses stuff too because we don’t like to judge.

Also we’re really proud to announce our chosen charity for tomorrow The Gem Appeal, a charity very close to our hearts & who do some amazing work. They’ll be here all day if anyone wants to talk to them about the work & how to get involved in all the exceptional things they do over the year. They’ve even got a few well know faces coming to join them to promote this amazing charity.
