Extreme weather conditions in North Yorkshire over the last couple of years have impacted on the low input system at Tom Carlisle’s farm near Skipton. 🌧️☀️

Diminishing soil nutrients and a lack of forage as a result of flood and drought conditions have cost the farm, but an emphasis on animal health and welfare has carried them through. 🌱

Do you have problems with flies? Let us help 👇

Feeding SUPAlyx Garlic provides an essential mineral, vitamin and trace element bucket containing added garlic to help discourage nuisance flies and biting insects during summer and autumn.

It reduces stress, grazing disturbance and irritation to sheep and cattle.
SUPAlyx includes vitamin B1 for where there is a risk of CCN, and vitamin B12 to help support good growth rates on cobalt deficient pastures for sheep production.

Reduce the irritation and disease risk of flies and find out more about SUPAlyx today: https://www.rumenco.co.uk/product/supalyx-garlic/

When it comes to flock performance, health comes first…🌱
“Irrespective of any potential loss of body condition, we see the general health and wellbeing of our ewes as paramount, and we have seen the benefits of block feeding to both ewes and unborn lambs.

Providing readily available minerals, vitamins and trace elements, is another advantage of supplementation with the blocks.” - The Tilson family.

Trial shows big benefits when using supplement 📊
A dairy calf trial monitored two groups of around 160 calves from 3 days old through to pre-weaning at 8 weeks. The results speak for themselves!

🐄 Calves were:
• Housed individually for the first 6 days
• Then group-housed on automated feeding until day 56

⚖️ The following were measured throughout:
• Health
• Faecal pathogen shedding
• Daily liveweight gain

🥄 From day 3, calves were randomly assigned:
• Half received 2g/head/day of Celmanax
• Half received no supplement (control group)

📈 Results showed:
• A significantly reduced probability of shedding Salmonella and rotavirus
• Calves receiving Celmanax were 2.5kg heavier at 50 days

Are you getting the most out of your ration - or could it be working harder? 🤔
Fermented yeast culture can reduce the impact of BRD. Including a fermented yeast culture in rations helps stabilise the rumen environment, improving dry matter and protein digestion, and boosting intakes.

Feeding Maxx Calf Health and Maxx Cattle Booster with Celmanax also provides specific benefits in relation to the refined functional carbohydrates, with mannan oligosaccharides (MOS), supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria, and mannose able to bind to pathogenic bacteria to minimise their impact. Other elements, like beta glucans, support the immune system and minimise the effect of stress factors such as mycotoxins.

Have you used yeast culture in your ration before?

Real results from the farm 👇
“We have been surprised at how effective NovaSile CS has been and impressed with how stable the clamp has been this winter.

With weather extremes affecting forage availability and quality, we are committed to making the best of what we have, and the additive has definitely helped with that.”
Chris Briggs – Kerndon Farm, Taunton, milking 285 cows.

Looking for a simple, effective supplementation system? 🐑
“We find block-based supplementation the easiest and most effective way to help the flock get more nutrition from forage. The blocks are large and last well and, because we use a refillable container, we don’t have buckets building up through the year. Sheep Super works well at tupping but we move them on to All Season Rumevite afterwards because it has higher protein.”

John Tilson, Wedderlie Farm, Scottish Borders, farming 1300 Cheviot ewes.

Are your sheep getting the minerals they actually need every day?
Free-access mineral blocks or buckets are the most reliable and cost-effective way to supplement magnesium, as well as other important vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

Our Supalyx Magnesium bucket, which contains 15% of palatable bioavailable magnesium, and Rumevite Magnesium are a highly palatable and bioavailable magnesium source.
