We have been made aware of a spike in forged £10 and (mostly) £20 notes in the area. Please check before accepting. Key things to look for:
- colouring, on 20s there is area on the bottom left that looks more yellow than gold on fakes
- the neighbouring hologram changes from TWENTY to POUNDS at different angles, fakes usually just show TWENTY
- Above that there is a transparency of the King, this looks a bit more solid with fakes
- the material - polymer notes have a distinct feel, fakes feel more plastic
- on the right the colouring looks different, this is true overall
- the Braille typically feels wrong or is absent on fake notes
There are other checks, at the Post Office we have a BoE certified note checker that checks all of them.
