Lorgar Aurelian Or: How I learned to stop worrying and follow the Word
Chapter 1
Being on furlough and and my first baby on the way in 6 weeks, I've been doing a lot of thinking and some self reflection. I'm almost definitely an adult now. And im getting to that point in life where I want, and can only really justify having, a few nice things. Long gone are the days where I can have piles and piles of hobby stuff in every room and covering every surface of the house. After working on a couple of new chaos sculpts for my friends over at Tabletop Assault, and being gifted a box of marines to play with by Ross, I had a bit of a flash of inspirstion that rekindled the spark of my personal hobby. My long suffering Relictors chaos space marines have been an absolute workhorse over the last 10 years, and I've added units consistently to them as the list has changed and evolved. But they aren't the prettiest of beasts. The scheme I came up with allowed me to crank out multiple units a night in time for a game. But the quality suffered just a little bit. Or a lot, depending on just how closely you looked. Over the next few months (and years, probably) I will be putting them into retirement, and upgrading to the new sculpts and a new scheme. I've spent the last couple of days coming up with a scheme for Word Bearers that I really like, and that is still very easy painting. The army will be based around the books of Anthony Reynolds, the Dark Apostle series and be heavy on the grim dark feel of the 40k universe, really trying to capture that well organised religious zealot impression I get from the books. This first post is hopefully the start of a bit of a blog for the project, tracking the progress, bouncing some ideas around and keeping me motivated to see one of my many hypothetical grand plans through to purging imperial dogs with fire on the tabletop.
Some of it will be garbage as I work stuff out. Other bits should be pretty good. I hope.
I'll do some tutorials of various aspects, and track any conversions I do. It won't be regular, it's a project without any pressure. It will just be the stuff that I do when I do it. I've got the bones of a 2000pt list that I will aim for first, but it will be mostly following the inspiration, rather than the rule book.
Hope you enjoy it
