Champagne Tasting Announcement 🍾

Our first entirely Champagne-centred dinner will be hosted in our wine shop on Wednesday March 19.

Franck Moussié will be showing the wines that he makes at our favourite Champagne Estate, Domaine Méa. Their Premier Cru Champagne 'Assemblage', is so good that it has been on our wine list for two years.

The dinner will be an opportunity to taste the fruits of a new generation's work at this superlative Champagne house, and to meet and talk to Franck.

On the evening we will taste Domaine Méa's four most famous sparkling wines as well as two cuvées that are not currently available in the UK. The BBS kitchen team will serve a four course menu to pair with the wines.

Can you think of a winemaker who has made Sauvignon in New Zealand, Rosé in Provence, Garnacha in Spain and big reds in Roussillon?

We can only think of one. And that is the inimitable Liam Steevenson who, not coincidentally, is the host of our first wine tasting this year.

For this evening in the wine shop Liam is pulling out all of the stops (and the corks). We will be tasting eight wines from his projects around the world.

The BBS kitchen will be sending out a delicious array of food to match, including pork cheek and wild garlic quiche and chef James's famous dark chocolate tart, amongst many other delectable dishes.

On Tuesdays, we charge no corkage...

We usually charge £15 to open bottles from the shelves, but on Tuesdays, you can get stuck into a great bottle of wine at retail price.

Settle in on the sofa with a bottle to sip, snack on our British Cheese & Charcuterie boards, or pair your wine with some of our Michelin Bib Gourmand sharing plates for lunch or supper.

An afternoon at 🍎

Thank you to the lovely Sam & Beccy who welcomed us to the home orchard of their natural cider & perry farm in Chew Magna yesterday.

Fruit is picked from the ground in the old way - left to mature and fully ripen before pressing. It is then fermented gently and slowly with wild yeasts, no sulphites and plenty of time.

It's a labour of love but boy does it pay off. We have a selection of Wilding's ciders available by the glass and bottle at BBS, come and have a taste for yourself.

Can you believe that James () has already been with us for more than a year? In such a short time he has become a stalwart and customer favourite in our wine shop, truly one of Bath's finest wine advisors and small plate servers.

Thanks for the great year, and here's to many more. Pictured here, James is modelling celebratory drinks of a single orchard cider and perry from - surely these won't last very long tonight!

Our larger site in beautiful Bath has a Bistro offering table service of wonderfully creative small plates as well as British cheese and charcuterie. It is a beautiful location for a quick lunch (or perhaps a long lingering one) and a destination for supper. In the shop you can take away from a wine list carefully selected to offer a great depth of choice including many wines not available anywhere else and at the best prices we can offer. Our smaller Tisbury location offers cheese and charcuterie to accompany wine.
