MEET THE TEAM - MUNGO

Mungo is the other founding brother of the Strong Water Co.

His background is in travel and you may know that he and Guy also brought you Banchory Beer Festival and True OriGINs, a travelling gin festival which was held all over the UK.

Mungo takes care of a lot of the “behind the scenes” work, focusing on logistics, international clients, the digital side of the business and sourcing that impossible product for customers and shipping it the other side of the world.

Outside of work Mungo loves cooking - all things BBQ in particular and curing meat! He also enjoys travelling, however this has been put on hold recently with Mungo and his wife’s, arrival of a new baby boy!

Next time you are in the shops, ask Mungo about his favourite BBQ cook.

MEET THE TEAM 👋 - Guy

The shop was founded by brothers Guy & Mungo. They opened the doors on Banchory High Street for the first time on the 29th November 2019.

Guy’s worked in the trade since leaving school. He started stacking shelves after deciding uni wasn’t for him and learnt everything he knows now from the bottom up.

Guy’s passion is products and people, endlessly looking for the next great product to bring into the shops to share with you all. He’s the creative brains of the enterprise, the tasting room in Ballater is really something to see!

When Guy’s not at work his wife, 2 young children, 2 dogs and 5 chickens keep his hands full at home.

MEET THE TEAM — HARRY 👋

For those that haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him yet, Harry joined the team here at The Strong Water Co back in June.

Originally from Cornwall, he’s swapped the South West for the Scottish Highlands — although there are plenty of similarities: strong Celtic character, great hospitality and an appreciation for good drinks and good conversation!

His background is in luxury hospitality and wine, most recently working in the cellar at The Fife Arms in Braemar, where he had the chance to work with an incredible wine collection.

What attracted him to The Strong Water Co. is its independent spirits range and the opportunity to discover interesting bottles, producers and the stories behind them. He’s a firm believer in quality over quantity, like us all!

If you see him in Banchory or Ballater, come and say hello — always happy to chat, hear what you enjoy drinking and hopefully introduce you to a few new favourites. 🍷🥃

MEET THE TEAM 👋 | BARRY FLORENCE

You might have noticed a few new faces around the shops over the last few months, it is about time we properly introduced them!

First up is someone who needs very little introduction around Banchory & Ballater — Barry Florence.

Barry hasn’t travelled far to join us, simply crossing over the road from Sheridans Butchers, where he was at the helm for many years.

In December, Barry and John handed the business over to Grant to continue the next chapter at Sheridans. It turns out Barry wasn’t quite ready for retirement lasting all of 2 days!! He missed the chat and day-to-day life of Banchory & Ballater’s High Street, so we’re delighted to have welcomed him to The Strong Water Co. team.

Barry brings with him a wealth of local knowledge, plenty of stories, and most importantly, he’s an all-round great person to have around the shop. If you know Barry, you’ll know exactly what we mean!

We also want to give Barry a massive shout-out for the long hours he’s recently put in supporting the efforts around the local wildfires as part of Scottish Fire and rescue service.👏🔥

We’re delighted to have you onboard, Barry! 🥃🍷
