Cheese and W**e of the Month 🍷🧀

Why pick one when you can have two? 👀 This month McGregor and Reid have selected cave-aged Taleggio as their cheese of the month and it’s up to you what to drink alongside it. Are you Team Prosecco or Team Pinot Nero?

🧀 Taleggio’s exterior rind is washed using a brine which gives the cheese a slightly sticky, pinkish orange appearance, with a pungent earthy aroma. The interior is soft, creamy and melts in the mouth with milky, buttery notes and tangy finish.

🍾 Fagher Prosecco DOCG Le Colture Brut NV, £15.25
Pale in colour with a delicate, fine mousse. Aromas of white flowers, citrus, orchard fruit with a hint of warm brioche.

🍷 Pinot Nero Tunella 2024, £15.75
Unmistakably Pinot Nero (Italy’s name for Pinot Noir) with its crushed red berry nose and spice palate. This is an open, fleshy red with soft tannins and delicate tea leaf notes on the finish.

Katie, our Shop Manager, was invited to spend a few days in Austria to visit the wonderful **ery 🇦🇹🍇

She traveled to the Seewinkel area of Austria’s Burgenland, along the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, where she was treated to exceptional hospitality.

Wondering the vineyards, trying grapes from the vine, tasting barrel samples and learning about their world-renowned noble sweet w**es - it was certainly a trip to remember! Thank you **ery ❤️

Join us for a relaxed evening celebrating the incredible w**es of South Africa. We’re welcoming two of our fabulous South African w**e makers, Estian de Wet of Constantia Uitsig & Lisha Nelson of Nelson Estate to Glasgow for one night only. Together we’re hosting at Celentano’s for a night of flavour, conversation and delicious food.

Expect a three-course dinner with sharing starters and Braai style main course. Discover five w**es from these producers — each one introduced by the w**emaker. This is your chance to learn a little, taste a lot, and enjoy a midweek feast in style.

The w**es are some of the very best coming out of South Africa, Celentano’s is one of Scotland’s brightest stars, this promises to be a wonderful celebration of w**e and food.

We’d like to introduce you to Gabe, our very first non-alcoholic w**e! 🍾 £9.95

Gabe is a non-alcoholic, lightly sparkling w**e from Marturana in Chile. The name comes the Basque language, Euskera, and means “without” - a simple node to the absence of alcohol and their Basque heritage.

The w**e is a de-alcoholised sparkling version of Maturana’s very popular Naranjo Torontel Orange (skin contact) w**e. This works particularly well as there is some tannic bite from the skin contact, pretty aromatics from the grape variety and the bubbles bring freshness and texture.

🧀🍷 Cheese & W**e Pairing: August! 🧀🍷

Die Agteros Chenin Blanc Joostenberg Estate £19.75

Notes of baked apples, honey and flint are balanced by the refreshing acidity and chalky texture characteristics of the Chenin Blanc grape. Joostenberg is a small, family-owned and run w**e farm, in Muldersvlei on the border of Paarl and Stellenbosch. A blend of several vineyards on the estate, with vines ranging in age from 4-40 years old. Farmed organically.

The D’Argental Collection, mcgregor + reid

The term D’Argental pertains to a family of rich, soft and creamy ripened cheeses primarily produced in Lyon in the Rhone-Alpes region. They are produced by Fromi and renowned cheese maker, Jean-Claude Guilloteau. They share a signature soft, ripened, creamy texture with a striking orange rind. Their interiors are decadent and gooey with a variation of flavours depending on the milk source.
