Hi everyone – we wanted to bring something to your attention that could seriously impact our community.
The CO-OP has submitted a planning application to build a 4,000 sq ft convenience store on the vacant land directly opposite Rosecroft Primary School.
This land is not designated for retail use – it’s legally secured for housing under the Breckland Local Plan 2023, just like the neighbouring site currently under residential development.
Here’s why this matters:
• It will create major traffic and safety concerns on London Road, especially with HGVs and customer vehicles turning in and out right next to a busy school.
• There is already limited parking and traffic issues during school times – this would make it worse.
• The CO-OP’s own report conveniently ignores Dodds Road Stores, despite being just 500 metres away. They claim there is no “single small convenience store” nearby – but we’re right here, and have been for years.
We are a locally owned independent shop & we:
• Employ local people
• Run Attleborough’s Post Office & banking services
• Provide a launderette
• Stock fresh produce from local suppliers
We give back to the community in a way a large national chain simply won’t.
This proposal threatens not only our store and 20 local jobs, but also other small businesses in town.
Please take a moment to object to this plan before 1st May 2025. Every voice counts.
