Rosa Blanca Balearic Beer

Since arriving into the store, Rosa Blanca Mallorca has been a sell-out new favourite with our beer customers.

Toasty, creamy, pale gold with stone fruit and a light malty sweetness - refreshment at its finest, with an interesting history....

Founded in Mallorca in 1927, Rosa Blanca was a traditional independent brewery that sadly went out of business during the tourist boom of the 60s - when larger breweries made competition too fierce for it to survive.

Thankfully, Barcelona-based Damm brewery revived the brand in 2018. Since then, Rosa Blanca has once again proved a beloved addition to the Balearic beer scene.

The recent sunshine has had our Master of Wine, Jane, searching to find the perfect blush for summer - and she may have just found it...

"I tasted this with customers at a recent event and it showed so well I simply had to make it my Wine of the Week - especially given the current sunshine. Château Peyrassol XIIIE is a premium wine from La Commanderie de Peyrassol in Provence, and we're proud to be the exclusive UK seller. It’s firmly become a staff favourite too – ask any of the team! The estate has bags of wine history, dating back to the 13th century - hence the name - but in fact, human occupation of the site dates back to the Iron Age!

There’s a new name in Thame, but with some familiar features…

A week ago today, we opened our latest new store on the site of a former butcher’s shop - Newitt's of Thame - which was a much-loved part of the local community for more than 50 years, famed for its award-winning pies and meats. Although the pork chops and ribs have made way for pinot gris and riesling, our property teams have worked hard to preserve some of the store’s history and heritage, carefully retaining its black and white tiled flooring, wooden ceiling beams and tiled walls featuring original murals.

We’ve also invested in building an extension at the rear of the store to accommodate our full range of more than 1,200 premium wines, beers and spirits, plus low and no, soft drinks and our newly extended range of premium snacks 🍷🥂🍸🍺🫒🥜

Manager Tamara and her expert team have loved meeting so many of you over the past week - thank you for all your support so far! We’ve still got lots going on in store over the weekend and we’re looking forward to helping even more members of the local community discover new wines, beers and spirits they will love. Summer isn't just about fresh and zesty whites, there are some lighter reds that hit the spot just as well - like Jane's pick this week, a light red from Beaujolais' Fleurie Cru.

"The last few weeks of warm weather have led me to drinking mainly white wine but this week I feel like a bit of a change - nothing too heavy, though. I've gone for a Fleurie from Georges Duboeuf. The 2023 has nice dark fruit and red cherry flavours, a lively smooth palate with fine silky tannins. 2023 was a fine year in Beaujolais and this from the most well known of the 10 crus. Fleurie is known for its pink granite soils producing floral aromatic wines which are smooth in texture."
