Some wines I discovered and others confirmations !
Again hundreds of wines tasted this year and a huge amount of Italians for work and pleasure
To shorten the list I stuck to 5 wines I really had a massive “coup de cœur” this year with different styles and from various places ! Of course I could have had 5 meursault or Puligny or so … but I think it s irrelevant and those other whites really felt unique and worth your interest !
Obarenes 2017 is a huge complex and oak aged wine with lots of complexity ! It a ripe but fresh, oaked but well integrated and long and creamy ! Outstanding in all means
Caliza is the epitome of crisp Chardonnay out of France with depth, laser like acidity, salinity, super drinkable event in its youth it shows better with aeration ! Liquid gold ! Chablis gd cru outside of Chablis ! Limestone and desert doing it very well for the team ! One of the best South American Chardonnay and whites 4 sure !
Prea from Veneto .it has an another identity wine with a fantastic project and terroir ! Aged in 3 different vessels it shows all the attributes and qualities of each, light struck match and reduction. Some ripe stone fruits due to Garganega, and the crispy acidity from the altitude and salinity from soils and lies aging !
s Etna Bianco was probably the best white tasted during Vinitaly and showed so much what altitude Milo sites combined with old vines of carricante can bring together ! Crispy, saline, iodine, length and complexity ! Again what a wine ! Although needs lots of aeration and time in the bottle will give the wine more depth 4 sure
Henri Boillot s 2018 Meursault although from a warm vintage showed skills and precision in the making, classic sulfur struck match reduction and light popcorn … nice fruit, integrated oak is all balanced in a perfect wine of meursault !
