Gamme large et complexe au domaine de Domaine de Piéblanc avec 2 splendides Gigondas et des beaux Beaume de Venise.

Passage obligé sous la dentelle Sarrazine et la source encore un peu active malgré un été plus que torride et sec !

Nouveau point et parallèle météo sur les 3 zones majeures de Cabernet de l hémisphère nord …
Ce millésime s annonce exceptionnel à Napa et aussi en Europe mais la fraîcheur des nuits et des journées douces semble mettre la Californie en haut des prévisions cette année.
Récolte probablement un poil tardive et équilibrée ?
Bolgheri continue sur sa lancée d année chaude … et Bordeaux / Pauillac se stabilise doucement … à voir la fumée et les incendies

Exploring, tasting and staying fit !
While in Montalcino I rented a gravel bike at pedala I Ripara and the result is awesome … only problem is… montalcino is top of the hill so wherever you come from you ll have to climb back up if one stays in the heart of the village 😅😜😇… my tour led me mostly to the southern part of the appellation where I could fully understand the greatness and the depth of Val D Orcia
Still on day one I did a short tour around the closes norther areas near montosoli, madonna delle Grazzie and so on … wonderful

Petit point météo sur 3 régions importantes et mythiques de l hémisphère nord … ou le Cabernet Sauvignon domine et donne les vins les plus chers ou quasi au monde.

Pauillac subit depuis 6/7 jours des chaleurs très marquées ! 41/42 degrés continus … et des nuits sans fraîcheur !

Bolgheri et ses influences maritimes et qui restera dans les 30/35 semaine suivante également !

L anomalie c est Napa… j aurais pu prendre Carneros ou Rutherford mais il faut choisir … très modéré et tempéré !

Je ferais un point régulier sur ces conditions de plusieurs régions aux mêmes cépages … je trouve ça assez passionnant. Et simple pour suivre un millésime.

Next problem … water … still no rain whatsoever in Europe …!!!

À Quick weather report to compare one variety on different major w**e régions at the same time … unlike other vintages maybe Napa is the coolest when Pauillac and Bordeaux are and were on fire 🔥, Bolgheri being warm and steady …

À study trip is meant to understand better, to immerse and to feel lest lost …

I ll post more of landscapes and outside pictures as it explains at least as much as tastings but the whole process is here… from vineyards to bottle.
Viticulture options, Vinification and aging.
The difference on single varietals is always mind blowing when only thinking of plots and areas… then vinification choices and aging. If you except the barrel people or use of barriques then pure Sangiovese comes in and from smallest to more bigger you ll feel a tremendous chill down your spine when it all comes to places …
On the hill well they are rather small ! On the Orcia and plains they can be massive ! Two different directions and clients in the end but still the same aim maybe. Producing the best as possible in an area. Showing their differences and strengths.

Being immersed is the best … you even start to feel as a local in a way… 😇

The only way to know more and know better !

Two amazing sites and two expressions of Chianti Classico !
Il Poggio is maybe the most unique w**e in the whole appellation thanks to its incredible storage from the first vintage on a now unreal library from 1962 and onwards

Castello di Lamole or I Fabbri high elevation reflects in a light and serene style with loads of finesse and herbal character from all different cuvees …

Many more places in Chianti Classico diversity but this two are quite a great example of single variety in same appellation differences.

Comme en Bourgogne, Rhone, Moselle, ou Barolo, la palette d un monocepage sur une même zone est incroyable et ces 2 exemples sont une belle image.
Des hauteurs de Lamole aux partie basses de Greve ou Radda, l expression du Sangiovese est magnifique !
Le côté solaire et rond de Monsanto contraste avec la petite austérité de I Fabbri.
Quoiqu’il en soit des vins magnifiques et des grands terroirs baignés de soleil et de vents !
