🍇 Erling’s Venner Smager – Bachus 🍇

This week, Jakob took the time to dive into Bachus — a Grape Ale aged in amphora, brewed by the team at Dois Corvos. Here are his thoughts on the beer:

Thanks so much for your review, Jakob – we’re glad you enjoyed it 😊

Bachus definitely sounds like an exciting brew, and it’s great to see how Dois Corvos leans into traditional methods by ageing their beer in amphorae – vessels with thousands of years of history. The beer also made quite an impression at a recent tasting here at the Butik!

Thanks again for sharing your tasting notes with us 🙌

🌊 New Arrival from Gamma 🌊

Last week, a fresh West Coast DIPA from Gamma Brewing Company landed in the Butik!

Most of you already know it – an IPA is not just an IPA. But it still surprises some during our tastings when a West Coast IPA shows up and brings its own personality to the table. It’s often a key takeaway: what actually makes a West Coast IPA different from a New England or Hazy IPA – and where does the name come from?

West Coast IPAs originated on the American West Coast in the late '90s and early 2000s, especially in California. These beers are known for their clear appearance, crisp bitterness, and bold hop-forward flavour – often highlighting pine, resin, and citrus. In contrast, New England IPAs are hazy, juicy, and soft, with minimal bitterness and a fruit-forward profile. Both are IPAs, but the drinking experience is quite different.

THE GREAT FILTER by Gamma is an 8% West Coast Double IPA – “Double” referring to its strength, falling in the 7.5–10% ABV range as per BJCP guidelines.

Hopped with BRU-1, Columbus, and Enigma, it brings classic West Coast bitterness and clarity, along with a subtle touch of modern hop character 🌲🍍

You’ll find it in our fridge now – cold and ready 🧊

🍷 Beer of the Week: Florien 🍷

This week’s Beer of the Week is Florien, a 7% mixed-fermentation wild ale from Zomerdijk 🎉

Florien is a wild ale that was aged for 26 months in Bordeaux barrels, and bottled back in 2021 – so it’s fair to say this one has a few years under its belt 😉
That’s exactly the kind of time the wild yeasts appreciate, allowing them to work their magic and develop the complexity this beer has to offer.

Florien lands on the milder side when it comes to acidity – but make no mistake, it more than holds its ground and might even surpass some of the other wild ales we currently have on the shelves when looking at its complexity 🌟

If you're curious to explore the kind of depth and character Brettanomyces can bring to the table, Florien is a great place to start 🌿✨

💥 Get it this week for 79,20 KR instead of the regular 99 KR
🗓 Offer valid until April 26th or while stocks last 🏃💨

🍺 Erling’s Venner Smager – Piece of Cake Tompouce by Frontaal 🍺

This week, Niklass A. took the time to dive into Piece of Cake Tompouce — an imperial pastry stout inspired by Tompouce, a traditional Dutch pastry also popular in Belgium — brewed by the team at Frontaal. And he was kind enough to share his thoughts with us:

“The first treat is received with ones eyes: dark, malted colour with an almost red tint to it, topped off with an almost solid, foamy head. An inviting sight for anyone who enjoys to indulge in this genre of beer.
The plot thickens with a nose that promises a slightly roasted - almost smokey - expereince together with a sweet, spicy aroma. This pldege is fulfiled with a pallet packed to the brim with flavours. Rich, malty notes combined with taste characteristics
akin to those found in thick chocolate cake. Subtle notes of coffee, chocolate and hazelnuts are imbued delicately in the fabric of the brew, all neatly complemented by a relatively thin, elegant body. A quality brew by any measure!!”

Thanks so much for your review, Niklas – we're glad you enjoyed the beer, and that great photo you took certainly makes it look like a promising treat 🍰

Frontaal’s Piece of Cake series is all about recreating dessert favourites in stout form – and in this case, they’ve gone with Tompouce, a classic Dutch pastry made of two layers of puff pastry filled with a smooth, sweet custard and topped with a thin layer of bright pink icing. It’s simple, sweet, and iconic 🌟

Thanks again for sharing your tasting notes with us, Niklas 🙌

⚓ Seaman’s Gose by Vinohradský is Back ⚓

This week, we received a fresh batch of the great Seaman’s Gose from Vinohradský Pivovar back at the Butik 🍻

Gose is definitely a beer style some of you know well – but maybe not everyone. A common mix-up is that when hearing “Gose,” people might think of a Belgian Geuze.
But these two beers couldn’t be more different when it comes to both history and character.

While Geuze is a traditional Belgian style – made by blending spontaneously fermented Lambics that age with wild yeast like Brettanomyces – Gose comes from a completely different background:

Gose is a historic German beer style that originated in the town of Goslar and later became famous in Leipzig. Traditionally brewed with a mix of malted wheat and barley, it’s known for its gentle acidity, refreshing dryness, a touch of salt, and subtle coriander spice 🌾🧂🍋
The saltiness originally came from the naturally salty water in Goslar’s brewing wells, and over time became a defining part of the style.

Seaman’s Gose from Vinohradský is a beautiful modern take on the style! At just 3.9%, it’s light in alcohol but full of character – refreshing, subtly salty, and with a crisp, lively acidity that makes it a real treat 😋

It also pairs wonderfully with lighter dishes – like fish – and would definitely be a welcome guest at any Easter table 🐟🌿🐣

We’ve got a good amount back in stock for now, and we’re happy to have this gem on the shelves again 🙂

🍻 Fresh Arrivals from Slowburn 🍻

This week, two fresh Slowburn Brewing Co-op have arrived at the Butik 🙂

🌼 Forårsbajer is a hazy, hoppy New England Pale Ale.
At 5.5%, it’s not too strong and not too shy for the Easter table.
A hefty double dry-hop of Galaxy, Eukanot Cryo & Simcoe brings big juicy notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, and citrus – all rounded off with a crisp, bitter finish 🍑🍍🍊

🔧 Arbejder Bajer, on the other hand, is a classic Pilsner – sitting on the milder side at 4.5%, and brewed with Loral hops.
Loral® (formerly HBC 291) lends a traditional, noble hop character with floral and herbal notes 🌿🍺

Here are the beers in detail:

🔧 Arbejder Bajer – 4.5% Pilsner (with Loral)
🌼 Forårsbajer – 5.5% New England Pale Ale (with Galaxy, Eukanot Cryo & Simcoe)

You’ll find both of them chilling in our fridges from now on 🧊

🍰 Fresh Arrival from Frontaal 🍰

We recently received some new beers from Frontaal at the Butik – including Piece of Cake Tiramisu 🎉

In their Piece of Cake series, Frontaal aims – as the name already suggests – to capture the flavours of classic desserts in rich, indulgent pastry stouts. With Piece of Cake Tiramisu, we now have a flavour on the shelves that sounds as intriguing as it gets ☕🍫

In pastry stouts, it’s usually lactose – milk sugar – that brings out that dessert-like sweetness. Lactose is unfermentable, meaning the yeast can’t break it down, so the beer keeps its creamy, sweet character. In Piece of Cake Tiramisu, Frontaal has also added cacao nibs, coffee, and aromas to fully deliver on the dessert experience 👌

Alongside Tiramisu, we also have Piece of Cake Tompouce, inspired by the classic Dutch custard slice, and Piece of Cake Apple Crumble Pie – a dessert that probably needs no introduction 🍏🥧

We also have two barrel-aged versions from the Piece of Cake series on the shelves 🔥

Here are the beers in detail:

🍰 Piece of Cake B.A. #1 – 12% Barrel Aged Imperial Pastry Stout (with lactose & spekkoek tincture)

🪵 Piece of Cake Apple Crumble Pie B.A. – 10.5% Imperial Pastry Stout (with lactose & aromas)

☕ Piece of Cake Tiramisu – 10% Imperial Pastry Stout (with lactose, cacao nibs, coffee & aromas)

🍏 Piece of Cake Apple Crumble Pie – 10% Imperial Pastry Stout (with lactose & aromas)

🍮 Piece of Cake Tompouce – 10% Imperial Pastry Stout (with lactose & aromas)

You’ll find all of these in our shelves – ready to be enjoyed 😋

🚨 New Arrivals from Gamma 🚨

Last week, we received three fresh brews from Gamma Brewing Company here at the Butik – and they’re all different takes on the IPA style!

Every now and then, someone walks into the shop and says, “I don’t like IPAs.”
But let’s be honest – that’s a bit too easy. There are so many sub-styles within the world of IPAs, and while the brewing philosophy behind them might share similarities, the flavour profiles can vary a lot.

With these three IPAs from Gamma, you’ll find three different approaches to the style:

🍁 CALD – 6.4% Red IPA (Belma, Bru-1, Eukanot & Mosaic)
A standout red color and malty character, thanks to a variety of specialty malts that give this brew its rich, warm hue and deeper backbone.

🇦🇺 DEADSET – 7% Aussie IPA (Eclipse, Ella, Enigma & Galaxy)
Hops are the soul of IPAs – and their origin matters. In Deadset, only Australian hops are used, showcasing the unique terroir of Down Under through bold, bright, and fruity notes accompanied by a fair bit of bitterness.

⚠️ SPIROGRAPH – 8% DIPA (Mosaic & Vic Secret)
If you’ve ever been to a tasting with us, you know we sometimes call DIPAs dangerous brews – why? Because they’re often way too drinkable for their strength. Spirograph fits that bill perfectly: it clocks in at 8%, but drinks smooth and easy, delivering bold flavours and serious character without compromising on approachability.

All three are now chilling in our Gamma fridge 🏃💨

🔥 Beer of the Week: FIRE 🔥

This week’s Beer of the Week is FIRE, a 12% Quadruple Mashed Imperial Stout from Moersleutel 🎉

FIRE is a Quadruple Mash Stout that, coming in at 12%, definitely delivers on a huge level – just like you'd expect from this beer style and a brewery like Moersleutel. As described on Untappd, FIRE is a non-adjunct stout brewed in collaboration with Crisp Malt using 100% English ingredients.

It features two heritage malts:

Chevallier® Heritage Malt, grown since 1820 and once the dominant barley variety in England, brings deep flavors, robust maltiness, and a rich marmalade-like character.

Plumage Archer® Malt, the first commercially cross-bred barley, also had a major impact on brewing and adds even more malt depth.

Both are used in equal parts in this brew. On top of that, Moersleutel added Bramling Cross hops for notes of blackberry, spice, and wood, and East Kent Goldings, which bring an earthy bitterness with a hint of honey.

As a quadruple mashed beer, FIRE is a powerful treat for those looking for a rich experience!

💥 Get it this week for 64 KR instead of the regular 80 KR

🍺 Erling’s Venner Smager – "Astroplane" by Doskiwis 🍺

This week, Bjørn Holm took the time to dive into Astroplane — an imperial stout with coconut, cacao nibs & vanilla — brewed by Doskiwis, and shared his thoughts with us:

“Vi drak Astroplane fra DosKiwis som vores dessert til fredagsmiddagen.
Denne ufiltrerede imperial stout har den lækreste chokoladesmag, samtidig med at vaniljen giver en god cremet fylde.
Den initiale fyldige chokoladesmag efterfølges af behagelige røgnoter, som leder tankerne hen på s’mores ved lejrbålet på en mild sommeraften.”

We're happy to hear you enjoyed this one, Bjørn! It hasn't been that long since Doskiwis beers found their way into our Butik, and we're glad their stout made such an impression 🙂

With a current rating of 4.03 on Untappd and 713 check-ins, it looks like it’s not just you – the crowd seems convinced too 🔥

Thanks so much, Bjørn, for tasting and sharing your thoughts with us 🙌

🇩🇰 Fresh Danish Arrivals in the Butik 🇩🇰

This week, we’ve stocked up on some fresh and familiar faces from some of Denmark’s finest breweries – including a new sour from Stepping Stone, a modern West Coast IPA from Bad Seed, and two IPAs from Ølsnedkeren!

While Bad Seed and Stepping Stone are regulars in our Butik, it’s been a while since we’ve had beers from Ølsnedkeren – so we’re especially excited to welcome them back 😊
If the name rings a bell, it might be because of Mig og Ølsnedkeren, the bar just down the street from us here in Aarhus. While the bar and brewery are connected in some ways, Ølsnedkeren has been brewing independently in Copenhagen since 2012.

After some recent changes at the brewery, we’re thrilled to have two of their beers back in the shop:

🍍 KARL SMART – A returning classic! This 6.7% NEIPA might not go all in on body, but it delivers a flavorful, refreshing profile and offers a bright take on the style.

🌾 DU' IK PÅ ARBEJDE – A velvety DIPA brewed in collaboration with the team from Mig og Ølsnedkeren.

🌲 NO FUZZ SIMCOE – A fresh drop in Bad Seed’s No Fuzz series, this DDH Modern West Coast IPA showcases all the Simcoe they could get their hands on: T90 & Cryo pellets, plus Dynaboost and Hyperboost extracts from Yakima. Expect dank pineapple kush, stone fruits, grapefruit, a touch of evergreen, and sticky resins.

🌸 LÍF – A 5.1% Fruited Sour from Stepping Stone, brewed with pink guava and passion fruit. This one’s a tropical refresher where the guava really shines. Stepping Stone has struck a perfect balance between the fruity notes and acidity, resulting in a bright, drinkable sour that’s both flavorful and refreshing.

All of these are now chilling in our fridges 🏃‍♂️💨

🎉 A Big Thank You for Your Support 🎉

Last week, we celebrated the 4th birthday of our Butik – and we want to take a moment to send a huge thank you to all of you!

And this isn’t something we say lightly – your support is what has made it possible for us to reach this four-year milestone.
So from all of us – Nana and Niels (the owners of Erling’s Flaskebutik), Mathilde and Jens (who regularly work in the shop), and Benedikt (our shop manager) – thank you! 💛

We also want to give a big shout-out to Humleland for brewing Hallo Erlings with us for our 4th birthday, and to Alexandra Sól for the great can design 🎨
While the beer sold out last week, we now have a few cans back in stock!

And of course, thanks to Erlings Jazz & Ølbar, Mig og Ølskenderen, Mundhæld, Mefisto, and Hantwerk for putting the beer on tap – and helping us celebrate the shop, a local brewery, and the craft beer scene in Aarhus 🍻

Aarhus is an incredible city with a fantastic craft beer community, and we’re proud to be part of it! Thanks again – and we look forward to welcoming you into the shop in our 5th year 🍺

🚀 New Arrivals from Factory Brewing 🚀

This week we’ve received some fresh beers from in Finland – brewed to celebrate their 2nd anniversary 🎉

Things have only been going up since Factory opened their brewery two years ago. They’ve been invited to all the right festivals and consistently created great beers and rightfully receive high ratings 👏
In February, as part of their birthday celebrations, they hosted a small festival featuring Finnish and UK breweries – and naturally, this resulted in a string of exciting collabs 🍻

We’re now lucky to have six IPAs spanning various strengths and styles, plus one rich pastry stout. The collaborating breweries include: BEAK, RIVINGTON, SURESHOT, POLLY’S, and TRACK – and the beers are currently sitting at a solid average rating of 4.18 on Untappd!

Here’s the full lineup:

🌿 COMMON FACTOR (Collab w/ 5 x UK) – 7.3% NEIPA (Citra, Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Strata, Simcoe)

🌾 FARMSTEAD DREAMS (Collab w/ RIVINGTON) – 9.5% TIPA (Motueka, Nectaron, Southern Cross, Galaxy)

💥 FEAST OF TONGUES (Collab w/ SURESHOT) – 7.5% NEIPA (Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, Krush, Southern Cross)

🚀 OVER AND BEYOND – 11.5% QIPA (Citra, Motueka, Riwaka, El Dorado)

🍻 Fresh Drops from Atelier Vrai & Blech.Brut 🍻

This week, we’re very happy to welcome some fresh arrivals from Atelier Vrai and Blech.Brut to the Butik 🎉

Not long ago, we received our first shipment in a while from the talented brewers in Bamberg — and both we and many of you were thrilled with the quality!
After joining an online tasting with Bastian recently, it became even more clear that behind those creatively designed cans are creative minds brewing excellent beer with some serious expertise 🍺🧠

So we’re all the more excited to now have a fresh batch of IPAs in stock, along with a very special oak-aged version of their most recent Rauchbier release. We’ve got four different IPA styles this time (West Coast, NZ IPA, DIPA, and TIPA) — and as the last time, the ratings are good, and the quality delivers 💥

One of the standouts is Tentacles of Speech — an oak-aged version of Looming Eyes, their Rauchbier. This means they aged the beer on oak chips for extra depth. While Looming Eyes was quite approachable as far as smoked beers go, Tentacles of Speech leans into the smoke and brings more bite 🔥🌲

Once again, the Bamberg crew shows how a classic regional beer style can be brought into the spotlight — and how German brewers continue to prove there’s more to Germany than just the Reinheitsgebot 😉

Here’s the lineup in detail:

🌿 ATELIER VRAI – BLINDING DARKNESS: 6.4% NZ IPA (Riwaka, Rakau & Nelson Sauvin)

🌸 ATELIER VRAI – RISING FALL: 9.5% TIPA (Citra, Rakau, Comet & Nelson Sauvin)

⚡️ BLECH.BRUT – CYBER CHICK: 7.8% DIPA (Citra, Riwaka & Rakau)

🌲 BLECH.BRUT – HOP SKULL: 6.8% West Coast IPA (Centennial, Motueka & Columbus)

🔥 BLECH.BRUT – TENTACLES OF SPEECH: 5.8% Oak-Aged Rauchbier

You’ll find all of these now chilling in our fridges 🧊

🍻 Fresh Drops from Frontaal 🍻

Last week we’ve got some exciting new arrivals from frontaal Brewing in the Butik 🎉

Among the highlights is the TRIFECTA lineup from the Great Minds series–
Three different Triple Mashed Imperial Stouts, including two collabs: one with Bravoure and one with Folkingebrew, plus Frontaal’s own 😋
“Trifecta” usually means a perfect combo of three – and Frontaal even suggests blending the three yourself if you're in the mood 😉

Since Frontaal is turning 10 this year, the team is also bringing back some of their personal favourites from the past decade – including the mighty TRIPLE JUICE PUNCH 🌸
If you’ve ever strolled through the Butik with a taster in hand, chances are you’ve tried the classic Juice Punch. While that one's known for being very approachable and well-balanced, this TIPA version clocks in at 9.5% and takes things to the next level – more body, more character, same great balance - dangerously drinkable!

Also back due to popularity is the SMOOTH CRIMINALS PIÑA COLADA – a tropical Smoothie Sour with mango, coconut, and pineapple 🌴

Last but definitely not least: NO WAY OUT B.A., a Barrel-Aged Salted Caramel Barleywine brewed in collaboration with Põhjala. The non-BA version has been in the shop for a while – but now the barrel-aged version is thankfully here 🙏

Here’s the full lineup:

🍦 TRIFECTA – 13% Triple Mashed Imperial Stout (Ugandan Vanilla)

🍫 TRIFECTA (Bravoure Collab) – 13% Triple Mashed Imperial Stout (Ghana Cacao Nibs)

🥥 TRIFECTA (Folkingebrew Collab) – 13% Triple Mashed Imperial Stout (Hawaiian Coconut)

⛔️ NO WAY OUT B.A. (Põhjala Collab) – 10.5% Barrel Aged Salted Caramel Barleywine

🌴 SMOOTH CRIMINALS PIÑA COLADA – 6% Smoothie Sour (Mango, Coconut & Pineapple)

💥 TRIPLE JUICE PUNCH – 9.5% TIPA (Citra, Mosaic & Sabro)

All of these are now available in our fridges 🏃‍♀️💨
