DER MYTHOS VON PERSEUS UND MEDUSA

Perseus verkörpert den modernen Helden, der den Blick vom Überflüssigen abwendet und uns zum Wesen der Dinge zurückführt; er rettet uns vor den Medusen der heutigen Zeit – vor Eitelkeit und Oberflächlichkeit –, um uns eine Welt aus Fleisch und Blut zu offenbaren.

Die Komposition spielt mit zwei Momenten:

Im Vordergrund bereitet sich Perseus – gefangen zwischen Schlaf und Wachen – darauf vor, sich dem Schicksal zu stellen, das ihn erwartet.

Richtet man den Blick dann auf die zentrale Öffnung, so offenbart sich der zweite Teil des Mythos: Perseus, auf dem Rücken des Pegasus reitend und das Haupt der Medusa mit sich führend, befreit Andromeda aus den Fängen des Seeungeheuers.

Medusa darf nicht direkt angesehen werden; ihre Augen besitzen die Macht, alles, was ihr Blick trifft, zu Stein erstarren zu lassen. Durch einen gewölbten Spiegel im Zentrum der Komposition wird ihr Gesicht daher sichtbar – nicht direkt, sondern als Spiegelbild –, ganz nach jenem Kunstgriff, den Perseus anwandte, um ihre verheerende Macht zu neutralisieren.

The second chapter of the highly anticipated Anamorphosis series: THE MYTH OF PERSEUS AND MEDUSA

Perseus embodies the modern hero who turns his gaze away from the superfluous and brings us back to the essence of things, saving us from modern-day Medusas, from vanity and superficiality, to present us with a world of flesh and blood.

The composition plays on two moments:

In the foreground, Perseus—caught between sleep and wakefulness—prepares to face whatever fate has in store for him.

Then, focusing one’s gaze on the central opening, one glimpses the second part of the myth: Perseus, riding Pegasus and bearing Medusa’s head, frees Andromeda from the sea monster.

Medusa cannot be looked at directly; her eyes have the power to turn everything that meets her gaze to stone. For this reason, by placing a curved mirror at the centre of the composition, you will see Medusa’s face revealed – reflected rather than directly – just as in the stratagem adopted by Perseus to neutralise her devastating power.

Le Grand Mint verbindet klassische und zeitgenössische Elemente, um die herausragende Handwerkskunst hinter jedem Produkt hervorzuheben – und behält dabei stets die Zukunft im Blick. Die von der in Rom ansässigen italienischen Designerin Carmen Testa entworfene Bar spiegelt die antike Ikonografie der italienischen Gottheit Fors Fortuna wider, die in einem *Sacellum* am rechten Tiberufer verehrt wurde.

Im Mittelalter wurde Fortuna oft neben einem Rad und mit verbundenen Augen dargestellt, um ihre Launenhaftigkeit zu betonen. Hier wird sie in einer modernen Interpretation neu interpretiert, wobei das Rad zum Wappen von Le Grand Mint wird.
Im Hintergrund ist ein Muster zu sehen, aber wenn Sie genau hinsehen, können Sie die Initialen LGM von Le Grand Mint in drei Dimensionen lesen.

Gold and silver bar bullion motif series from Le Grand Mint, is another variant to collect in classic investment form, in their modern representations are original and true to the brand. In the Middle Ages, Fortune was often depicted next to a wheel and blindfolded to emphasize its capriciousness.

Le Grand Mint combines classical and contemporary elements to highlight the outstanding craftsmanship behind every product, while always keeping an eye on the future. The bar, designed by Rome-based Italian designer Carmen Testa, reflects the ancient iconography of the Italian deity FORS FORTUNA, who was worshipped in a *sacellum* on the right bank of the Tiber. There is a pattern in the background, but if you look closely you can read Le Grand Mint's initials LGM in three dimensions.
