"My journey into winemaking began with a fascination for chemistry at 15. Initially, I dreamed of becoming a perfumer, but over time, my love for tasting flavors and creative cooking led me to winemaking, a blend of both. Since then, I've faced many challenges, especially as a woman in an industry that requires not only tasting but also physical work with tools traditionally used by men."

This sparked a lifelong commitment to blending sustainability with quality, and in 1998, I joined Brancaia, where I have the privilege of leading a passionate team."

I moved to Bordeaux in the 1990s to study oenology, at a time when few women held technical roles. Women had to prove themselves without compromise in this male-dominated environment."

SHE - Honouring Female Winemakers

This Women's Day, we celebrate Katerina Bosinaki, Greek female winemaker at Bosinakis Winery.

"Growing up in a winery, I absorbed the experiences and knowledge that made me fall in love with wine. In 2009, when my siblings and I took over, I knew I had the responsibility to continue my parents’ work while adding my own perspective. As a woman, I had to overcome stereotypes in a male-dominated field, but I focused on the quality of our wine, letting it speak for itself.

The grape we carefully select—Moschofilero—the soil of Mantinia, its rare sun and its not-so-rare rain, its people. All of these together make our wines unique. They are as unique as every member of this family. At least for us, this is what winemaking is… it’s who we are! I want every person who tastes our wine to feel the strength and passion of the people who created it.

We respect tradition, but innovation drives us forward. Our Moschofilero wines, like Pet Nat and Aspela, prove that the past and future can coexist in the same glass. The world of winemaking doesn’t belong to one gender—it belongs to those with passion and knowledge."
