✨US Shipping Now Paused✨ On August 29th 2025, the US will fully eliminate its $800 de minimis exemption with Canada, which is bad news for small businesses who ship to the US. This exemption has allowed Canadian merchants to ship low-value parcels into the U.S. without duties, taxes, or full customs clearance for decades.

The removal of this exemption means we have no idea what kind of fees or duties will be applied to any of our shipments entering the US, and we don’t want to risk passing along any additional burdens to our customers. For that reason, we are pausing all shipping to the US as of today to give us time to understand what this new process will look like and whether or not it’s still feasible to ship there.

We have lots of wonderful American customers who support us from afar and we ship there often. We’re now going to lose 100% of those sales and that sucks, but hopefully this is temporary. Stay tuned for updates or feel free to send us a DM if you have any questions.

What is a whiskeyjack?

Whiskeyjack is a nickname for the Canada Jay, which is a bird found in every territory and province within Canada. It’s also a friendly and smart bird who chooses not to migrate in the winter, and braves the Canadian cold better than most of us!

The name whiskeyjack came from the Indigenous for Wisakedjak, who was a known trickster in Anishinaabe legends. Known to be quite clever and friendly, the Canada Jay is the only bird with a name rooted in Indigenous culture, and for these reasons above this species was named by National Geographic as Canada's National Bird.
