Moving on is hard. Even harder when it’s from a make-believe friend—someone, or in this instance, some thing—who’s been your strongest source of support. On what should be one of the happiest days ever, the day her granddaughter is born, Minoo is faced with a terrible choice: make a clean break from her constant companion, a sock puppet named Ecology Paul, or lose her daughter and granddaughter, and maybe all of the people she loves.

✨Happy Pride & Indigenous History Month✨

At the shop, we support and celebrate Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, creators and authors 365 days a year.

But during a time when there is so much hateful legislation being proposed/passed and dangerous (incorrect) rhetoric being amplified online and in our communities, we need to shift the focus from “love is love” to “how can we protect q***r, trans and Indigenous folks?”

✨To the allies: There are so many different ways you can show up and speak out for 2SLGBTQIA+ AND Indigenous communities every day. How you spend your money, where you donate your time, the content you consume, the conversations you have and the events you attend matter.

Understanding the intersectionality of these two celebrations in June should also be an important part in shaping the month ahead; whether it’s seeking out educational resources, directly supporting creators, amplifying voices or donating to organizations that are doing the work.

✨To our 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous friends, neighbours and partners: We see you, we love you and we will continue fighting for your safety and celebrating your joy every day of the year.

Today we are ✨officially✨ 7 years old!

Seven years ago, we opened our doors on Maiden Lane for the first time and we held our breath.

We didn’t know what we were doing or how it would turn out. We just knew we had to try.

That’s basically what being an entrepreneur feels like every single day. You create this cool thing and you hold it up for everyone to see, close your eyes, hold your breath, and hope people like it enough to support you.

It’s scary and a much harder path than most others, but you do it because you don’t know how NOT to.

It doesn’t really get easier with time either, you just become more resilient and you learn to trust your gut.

Seven years in, you still question yourself. You still get frustrated and sad. But, seven years in you feel like something must be resonating with people so you keep going. Even on the hard days. Even when it feels impossible.

Building this store has truly been the joy of our lives. We got tired of waiting for cool things so we made one ourselves. It has become a safe space in our community, a bright spot in our neighbourhood, and a place that embodies our values.

Thank you to every single person who helped us bring this vision to life, who believed in us, cheered for us, recommended us, left us reviews, made purchases, and helped us stick around just a little while longer. We love you all so much. You cannot possibly know the extent of our gratitude 🩶
