Front Cigar Store, Lloyd’s Smoke Shop & Pool Hall has operated at its current location for almost 80 years. The store has expanded over the years from being a full service to***conist and hub of Wiarton’s pool scene. Pool was so popular at the time that one had to line up for hours outside the store to have a hope of getting to play on one of the three regulation size snooker tables.

Due to accidentally turning off our scooping freezer at the store… we currently have no scooping ice cream available. 

Our hope is that the ice cream we had in other freezers will be ready some time this afternoon.

Sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this will cause.

There's a smoke shop in Wiarton where the pool hall has been running since 1945, and the line out front is for the ice cream.

Lloyd's, on Berford Street. Ci**rs, lottery tickets, newspapers from around the world, snooker tables in the back. And somewhere along the way they started making small-batch ice cream behind the counter and got scary good at it.

How good? Their chocolate took first place at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, the first year the fair held an ice cream competition. And chocolate might not even be the local favourite. Maple bacon and caramel green apple both have loyal camps. Raspberry coffee break is coming up the middle.

The board rotates, so what's in the case is always a bit of a surprise. Ice cream season runs until Thanksgiving, then it's gone until spring.

Grab a cone, grab a paper, lose a game of snooker. That's a Wiarton afternoon.

Thank you to Bennett's Great Canadian Dollar Store for co-sponsorship of the decorated bike contest with us at the Canada Day 2026 event. The kids looked great the The McLaren Pipe and Drum Band sounded in time and the dignitaries gave short speeches.
