May 1, 2025, I was terminated from the Esso after 13 years of employment. Not because of anything I did but due to standing up for my workers rights and being a woman who wouldn’t bow down to a man’s demands. I was also fired as I tried to come back from a medical leave that I had been on for the last 7 months. A medical leave that was caused by the owner as I had a mental breakdown from his treatment not only towards us employees ( he wouldn’t even look or talk to us unless the manager wasn’t around) but his treatment of our manager who held her ground and tried to fight for us employees. We were told lies about being payed overtime, bounced paychecks, payed 3-4 days late with no concern about our bills at all. He also wasn’t paying the venders and in turn we had to deal with the angry phone calls about getting payment as he wouldn’t make himself available to answer their phone calls. Prices jumped in the store and we were constantly berated by customers for his decisions. Another part of the reason I had a breakdown.
