These are the days. Where I appreciate my body. I think of the days where she served me better but I wouldn’t go back. I tuck in my muffin roll a little and I just appreciate that it’s here. Muffins are sexy, tops, bottoms, sides? Thats really all we can do really. Appreciate ourselves. I look at this picture and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. I’m sad for some things. I’m angry for so many things still. But this body standing here, in this swimsuit. This body has come a long way, sacrificed a lot, but today, it hurts not just from chronic pain but also from trying to do silly reel challenges with friends, from running errands, from making customers smile, watching tv and making second dinner with my smalls, and living in a home I feel so at peace in. So today I’m in a lot of physical pain, but I’m also feeling pretty happy mentally. Now if only I could sleep…

Base 31 is a unique full circle for me. Bringing out memories of another time, wings ceremonies, students, flight training, drill practices. Reminding me my story isn’t over, just like this Base. It’s in a way a comfortable nostalgia, like coming home. Come check out the restorations, displays and aircraft. It’s more than just an event venue out here in Picton.

As we get ready to kick off our fourth season in the Drill Hall, we’re taking a moment to honour the building’s incredible past.

Long before it echoed with music, celebration, and culture the Drill Hall was a training ground for British airmen heading overseas to fight for freedom in WWII. That legacy still lives on within its walls.

📸 This June 12, 1942 article, (published just over 83 years ago) captures an Officers’ graduation ceremony—if you look closely, you can spot the original floor markings that remain to this day.
