Whisked Goods Is Changing... But We're Not Going Anywhere
This is probably one of the hardest posts I've had to write.
After a lot of late-night conversations, difficult decisions, tears, reflection and thinking about what is best for myself, my family and the future of Whisked Goods, I've decided it's time to close one chapter of this little business that I've poured so much of myself into.
On October 3, 2026, the Whisked Goods General Store will close its doors, and our regular retail storefront in Torquay will come to an end.
Even though I know this is the right decision, writing those words hurts.
Whisked Goods has become so much more to me than a bakery or a store.
It started with an idea, a love for baking and the hope that maybe I could turn something I loved doing into something bigger.
Then somehow, little by little, it became real.
There were early mornings and very late nights. There were recipes that worked perfectly and plenty that didn't. There were moments when I wondered what I had gotten myself into, and others when I stood back and couldn't believe what we had created.
There were customers who became familiar faces, young employees who became part of our little team, other local businesses that believed in our products, and a community that continued to show up for us.
Somewhere along the way, Whisked Goods became part of our family's story.
And that's what makes this so emotional.
I'm going to miss opening those doors.
I'm going to miss seeing familiar faces walk through them.
I'm going to miss hearing that someone drove over specifically for their favourite cheesecake, cinnamon rolls or a loaf of sourdough.
I'm even going to miss some of the chaos.
But there's something very important I want everyone to know:
Whisked Goods Bakery is not closing.
I'm not done baking.
I'm just changing the way I do it.
There will no longer be regular storefront hours or customer shopping at our Torquay location. Instead, Whisked Goods will become a smaller, more focused production bakery.
And we're taking Whisked Goods on the road.
You'll find us at markets, trade shows, community events and other special opportunities, along with select bulk and wholesale orders.
I'm simplifying the bakery and focusing on a small selection of the products that helped make Whisked Goods what it is.
That means you won't always be able to walk through our doors and grab your favourites anymore.
You might have to come find us.
And I'm actually really excited about that.
Follow our social pages because that's where I'll be sharing where we're headed next, what we're bringing and where you'll be able to find Whisked Goods.
This change means less overhead, fewer demands, more flexibility and more time to put my energy into the parts of this business that made me fall in love with it in the first place.
It also means more time for my family.
And I've learned that sometimes success isn't about how many hours you're open, how many products are sitting on the shelves or how big you can make something.
Sometimes success is building something you're proud of and then having the courage to change it when life tells you it's time.
To every customer who has walked through my doors:
Thank you.
Thank you for buying my baking.
Thank you for trusting me with your celebrations.
Thank you for showing up at our events.
Thank you for sharing our posts, recommending us to your friends and bringing someone new through the door.
Thank you to our employees who helped turn Whisked Goods into more than something I could have ever managed alone.
Thank you to the businesses that put our products on their shelves and believed they were worth sharing with their own customers.
Thank you to our friends and family who helped behind the scenes in more ways than most people will ever know.
And thank you to this community for giving a little bakery an opportunity to become something much bigger than I ever imagined.
I'm incredibly proud of what we've built.
Closing the storefront doesn't take any of that away.
If anything, this journey has taught me something I'll carry with me:
Moving forward doesn't always mean getting bigger.
Sometimes growth means simplifying.
Sometimes it means choosing your family.
Sometimes it means protecting the thing you love before you become too exhausted to love it anymore.
And sometimes you have to be willing to close one door so you can see all the other doors that have opened along the way.
October 3 is going to be emotional.
I'll turn the sign for the last time.
I'll lock those storefront doors.
I'll probably cry.
And I'll remember everything that happened inside those walls.
But then I'll do what I've always done.
I'll go back into my kitchen and bake.
Because the storefront is closing.
Whisked Goods isn't.
This isn't goodbye.
It's the beginning of something new.
And I can't wait to see where Whisked Goods goes next.
With all my love and gratitude,
Zoë
