Please remember... that our club...the Cape Breton GOLDEN K...now has its own Face Book page for BINGO... that is dedicated to our Eastlink/KGK Bingo on Wednesday evenings ( not designated holidays) from 6-7 on Eastling channel 10 locally.

Our games CAN ONLY be played on Eastlink TV. HUGE thanks to Bonnie Cox for her awesome posts regarding our NUMBER ONE and LONGEST RUNNING fund raiser.

Our second page...that I'm posting on now...is dedicated to MEMBERSHIP news...in house and out in community projects, new members joining...members retiring from the club...events upcoming etc.
Thank you to those who FOLLOW us and those who SHARE our posts and BIG TIME to those of you who do both.

There has never been a need... since we became a club in 1984... as there is now...for all of us to support those in need in our community.

Just as our club has a new inductee early in this Kiwanis year...

we also have 5 members who are moving on to new endeavours after serving their community ...as members of the KIWANIS CLUB OF CAPE BRETON GOLDEN K some years ago.

From the left Howie Noseworthy... who joined in 2014 and has been a member of the Board of Directors, long-time co-chair of the Track and Field Committee which chalked up over 300 hours out in community each year and has consistently been a VERY active hands on volunteer out in community every year.

Beside Howie, Deb Murray... who joined in 2015 and has been Assistant Secretary for the past 4 years...member of the Board of Directors, co-chair of the PR committee, Face Book page administrator and in-house photographer on many meeting days.

Next is Paul Carabin... who's been with the club since 2021 and served on the Board of Directors and thrown his hand up to volunteer in any way/anytime he could, in-house and out in community.

Next, Sandra Kelly who joined in 2015 and has been on the Board as a director, first ever female VP...first ever female President and this past year as Recording Secretary.

On the far right is David Ritcey who...up until retiring recently... is the club's longest attending and active member, having joined the Golden K in 2002. David has served on many club committees over the years including one of his favs...the Scholarship Committee.

Tear up the calendars and unplug the clocks...its time to REALLY retire!

During the first regular meeting of the club for this KIWANIS new year, we inducted Doug Libbus to the fold.
The Kiwanis year runs from October 1st to Sept. 30.

Doug's "sponsor" Rita Mac Isaac is also seen here. She's the one who asked Doug to come to a meeting and check us out.
Presenting to Doug is our club president John Ryan.

After attending 3 meetings...a request we make of people so that they will be sure we are the group they'd like to volunteer with...
the induction takes place.

We are now 15 men and 14 women strong.
We HAVE HAD equal numbers of men and women at times... which is actually quite unique in volunteer clubs. Who knows WHAT will happen next?

On behalf of the club I'd like to thank Sandy Scott for, again this year, performing our INDUCTION of new members ceremony at our AGM.
Sanday, of course, is a long-time (50 years) member of the Kiwanis Club of Sydney and a man who "knows his stuff."

On Friday, October 2nd the Kiwanis Club of Cape Breton Golden K enjoyed an awesome tome together celebrating our annual AGM at the Doryman
where we ate a delicious meal and had some laughs and memories to share together.

At the celebration we inducted 2 new officers of the board and three new directors of the board and wished farewell to some members who will not be returning next year.

On September 28th, 2026...
the last weekly meeting day of the Kiwanis year 2026/27...

we got word that one of our very active and dedicated members...
who was inducted in 2016
was leaving us on wings in 2026...
Ken McLeod...
had passed away.

If you're ever gone to the Regional Hospital on a Wednesday morning between 8 and 10 am
you'd doubtlessly have seen him there at the GREETERS DESK with his long-time buddy Ernie Redquest...
answering the," Where do I go for..." questions you may have asked.

Truthfully...those two guys were "on duty" long before they we assigned to be.
Ken's smile was like a belly laugh and it made you feel BEYOND not JUST special.

We will miss this," amazing without even trying to be," gentleman. Blessings...hugs and fond remembrances to Ken's family and other friends and KIWANIS CLUB OF CAPE BRETON GOLDEN K co- members.
