The KIWANIS CLUB OF CAPE BRETON GOLDEN K was able to award 5 scholarships of $1000.00 each in this, our 42nd year as a chartered service club.

Seen on the left, in the first picture, is this year’s Scholarship Committee Chairperson Debbie Morse.
In the center is Claire Morrison of BEC and on the far right, Macey Mac Donald also of Breton Education Center.
In the second photo, on the far left we see Andreas Torres of Riverview. Keagan Cooke, of Sydney Academy is in the center and Reese Wells of Glace Bay High is on the far right.
All of these graduates are excited about their future and since meeting them, we certainly are as well.

Though this is not a recent rendition of the song Caledonia,
this IS a popular local band called,The Pub Boys.

Second from the left is one of our KGK Club members and upcoming VP of our club, starting in October...GORDIE PARSON.
We have a LOT of varied talent in this club.
Check us out in REAL LIFE sometime.
You will not regret it.

Caledonia is a modern Scottish folk ballad written by Dougie MacLea...

IN THE BEGINNING...

On this date in 1984, the Kiwanis Club of Cape Breton Golden K received its charter membership from KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL.

We are now...officially...42 years old. TA DA!

Earlier years of the club had groups of ambassadors...large numbers because of the larger memberships then. Here's a photo of the 1974 ambassadors. Many of you will see some familiar faces.
This picture is from a photo archive I did not take it. I was just graduating from NSTC when THIS was taken. :)

It felt like a good day for a flashback in the club history.
Here you see our longtime member Sen White being inducted to the Golden K in 2008.

Sen, as many of you know, is also a member of the Men of the Deeps and perhaps...because its DAVIS DAY 2026...that's why "DIGGING OUT" this photo, seemed like a good idea.

Sitting at the table is club president at the time, Bob Stevens and standing at the mic...
well...I apologize but don't know his name...
but DO KNOW someone reading this will let me know.

BLESS those who spent their lives pounding the black rock as if it were gold.
