Originally from Bhutan, Man left his country at the age of nine, fleeing by night with his mother and siblings. After 11 days in India, they found refuge in Nepal, where Man spent 19 years in refugee camps. In 2011, after a long journey through Kathmandu, Dubai, and Frankfurt, he arrived in Saint-Hyacinthe with his wife. Thanks to the support of La Maison de la Famille, they were able to settle, begin learning French, and start a new life in Quebec. After a few short-term farm jobs and a program with Parcours Formation, Man began a training placement with Chef Brigade in 2015—and never left. He’s now fully integrated into his new life and our team, a true example of resilience and a valued member of our company.
Today, Man is a Team Coordinator and the go-to person for welcoming and mentoring new employees. Always calm—some say philosophical—he takes time to explain things clearly and spark interest in those he trains. He’s proud to work in a harmonious team and thrives on learning new things, viewing change as a driving force for growth and versatility. Outside of work, Man devotes time to his family, cheering on his Canadian-born kids at soccer games, listening to sentimental music in Nepali, English, or French, watching films, and visiting family and fellow Bhutanese refugees now living in Ontario, Nova Scotia, and the U.S. His favourite Chef Brigade products? Too hard to choose—he loves them all! But he does have a soft spot for our ribs, turkey, beef wellington, and chicken tournedos.
