Recent events have some Canadians thinking about our shopping habits. I see many thoughtful Canadian faces at the grocery store, comparing goods and checking labels. I don’t have to tell you how important it is to shop local anyways, it is a great way to keep dollars in our region. Supporting Canadian Small Businesses fund 70% of our local economy. It has been incredible to witness how we are contributing together!

Here are few ideas if you want to join in on Supporting Canadians!

• A website to help you find Canadian items in many categories is madeinca.ca. You can even search by your city or town.

• There is a new app for your phone called Oh SCANada. You can either type a product name in or scan the UPC symbol to find out Canadian content in what you buy. Two other apps have become popular Shop Canadian & Buy Beaver. These apps will tell you if the store or company you are buying from are fully Canadian owned or not.

• Shop our incredible Regina Farmers’ Market • . Every item is Saskatchewan made, baked, grown or designed. They are open every Saturday at Banner Hall in the REAL District • . You can’t get much more Canadian than that.

• We have an incredibly talented brewery and distillery scene here in Regina. Toast Canada with a Canadian, quality made drink. Some popular ones in our Warehouse District are & .

• Buying used items from Canadian sellers is a great way to save money and Support Canadian! Our Vintage & Antique Market has 28 vendors, all Canadian and there are many other stores in the city to check out as well.

• When you generously donate make sure you are donating to a Canadian owned company. Donating vintage & antique items to our non profit instead, supports 28 local Canadian businesses and helps us continue our important work. Stores like Encore and Log House which are fully Canadian owned non profits.

Thanks for joining together and thinking about where your dollars go! There is a certain pride in saying, “I Support Canadians!”.
